CWEP Project 1 - Signature Wedding

Posted By Sabrina Lee, Monday, July 8, 2019
Updated: Monday, July 8, 2019

Howdy, I'm Sabrina Lee - I am the owner of Lillie Jane Designs, Event Planning & Design in Houston, TX. I am a born & raised Texan (Houstonian, to be more specific), and I have been in the wedding planning business since 2015. I started as a Venue Event Coordinator at a local venue here, where I learned the ins-and-outs of planning weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, and school proms and banquets. I left the wedding industry temporarily to work at NASA where I was a Configuration & Data Mgr and known as the organization Event Planner. I started LJD last year, quit my NASA job this past May, and hope to surpass my previous income by this time next year. My goal is to build a clientele and eventually open a venue (or chain of venues) in the Houston area with my family.

So far, this CWEP has been a reminder of a lot of what I have already learned. However, the discussion videos and chapter specifics have allowed me to take some crucial notes in bettering my business. But I won't like, the assignments and projects are definitely taking me longer than I thought it'd take to complete this course! But I look forward to earning my certification and taking what I've learned from this course to better serve the clients of Houston.

For Project 1, I chose to plan an intimate signature vintage + firefighter wedding for an older couple (early 40s). I utilized my current vendor connections and discounts to keep this couple below their $30k budget. The attached mood board shows the vintage styles of lace and pearls, accents of burgundy floral, and the perfect backdrop of a historic firestation as the venue. Enjoy!

CWEP Project 1-Wedding-Hicks

Posted By Teresa Hicks, Friday, September 29, 2017

Greetings Colleagues!

My name is Teresa W. Hicks.A few of the hats I wear are wife, mother of two, teacher, minister and grant writer. My husband and I are currently experiencing empty nesting syndrome in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Several years ago I experienced one of the most devastating losses ever: the death of my father. My sister, brother, mother and I planned the most beautiful celebration ever.It was gorgeous!! The only problem was that the guest of honor was not able to see it. Thus began our quest to celebrate life.

This is my first professional course in Event Planning. My goals for this class are to get my certification in event planning, to network with like minded professionals, and to move to a new level of business.

My first project is a Canva board for a wedding. Faith, family, classy, tradition, daintiness  and Jazz were important to the couple. The bride specified that the wedding be held in a church, that the traditional Methodist ceremony be used, and no silk flowers. This event could also be listed as a signature event. This was evident through the emphasis on faith, the swing dancing and jazz music, personalized  boxed chocolates, and in lieu of gifts donations made to hurricane relief efforts and homeless programs.

Project 2: Selling Your Services

Posted By Ayesha Fardell, Friday, April 21, 2017

Hi! My name is Ayesha Fardell and I own a Los Angeles based wedding planning business called Elle Qui Vit. We cater to millennials seeking an easy, accessible, unique planning experience that speaks to them as a couple. My experience with this course so far has been very positive. While I have planned a handful of weddings, I feel that LWPI I has given me the tools and techniques I needed to really grow as a business and serve my clients to the best of my abilities. Project 2 has prepared me for taking my business to the next level, I now have contracts, bridal party checklists, bridal questionnaires and more in place to present myself in the most professional way possible. I feel so much more organized and clear on the steps I need to take to have a successful wedding and events planning business.

My Project 2 presentation is a package of information that I can offer my clients upon initial contact so they have the tools they need to see why Elle Qui Vit is the best fit for them. My color palate is white, black, grey and shades of rose, and my font is Merriweather for titles, and Arial for the text body. The images I used are a mixture of my own and vintage shots, as I feel my business incorporates both the new and old. I hope you enjoy!
