Posted By Tamika Reynolds, Monday, September 16, 2019

My name is Tamika Reynolds and I am the owner and lead event/wedding planner of Event Planning by Tamika. I live in Fort Worth, TX and work full time as an Administrative Assistant. I started my business in 2012 and have planned some events but wanted to get my certification.

Event Planning by Tamika is a home-based business that provides birthday parties, baby and bridal showers, bachelorette parties, social events and DIY projects to parents, families, expecting mothers, brides to be and any other members needing planning services. Too many people become overly stressed and frustrated when planning these wonderful occasions.

My love for event planning goes back stretches back to my early teen years of planning parties for families. After planning so many events, I decided that I wanted to combine my creativity and passion with my love for special events, and so I started my own event planning business. I have not looked back since! Though I have not planned many events and have decided too really focus on my business, my goal is to finally find a location and have a grand opening in late 2020. My goal is the next five years is to expand my business to more clients and a better location, where I can offer more service and products. I hope that to also employ more than one assistant and participate in bridal shows. I hope to build a good reputation that services all clients and vendors.

I hope my experience in this course can help my gained the knowledge needed to run a successful event and wedding planning business. My mood board depicts how I plan to have my grand opening in 2020. It will consist of food, activities, painting, dancing and so much, Guests will be able to take their masterpieces home with them. To end the night we will have a balloon release to celebrate the opening of Event Planning by Tamika.

Project 2: Selling your Services

Posted By Anna- Lisa Carreira, Monday, September 16, 2019
Updated: Monday, September 16, 2019

Hello! Toasted Affairs was started in 2019 by me, Anna Taylor. I fell in love with wedding planning while planning my own wedding. I have always been an artist with a passion for design, photography, florals, painting, etc. so the wedding industry is my ideal environment!

I have always been a planner and helped multiple friends plan weddings and create decor for their special events. My artistic background has also led to a design eye and I love creating decor for events. I also love setting up tables and adding that perfect touch to each space. Project 2 helped me see that I can add additional services such as event rentals and decor creation to my wedding planning services.

My ideal clients love neutrals, but also pops of color! I believe the best decorations are flowers and the more the merrier. I am always drawn to the "bohemian" bride who isn't afraid of creating her own trends and having personal, modern touches. Each couple is special and unique, so I believe their big day should be too.

Project 3 Grand Opening

Posted By Shreshtha Ghoshal, Monday, September 16, 2019
Updated: Monday, September 16, 2019

Hi everyone, my name is Shreshtha and I am the founder and owner of Roopkotha Event Planning & Design, also stylized as "Roop!".

Roopkotha means fairy tale in my native language, and is made up of the words for "beautiful" and "story", which I believe every wedding should be. With this in mind, I chose a beautiful lilac for my brand colors, as nothing says "magical" and "ethereal" to me than that particular shade. I want my clients to see me as their "fairy godmother" who will step in and take care of everything possible, allowing my bride and groom to be stress free and totally relaxed.

Roop! aims to cater to engaged couples from all walks of life and all identities. I do not believe in excluding anyone, and aim to create a fairytale for those who dare to dream. Because of this, I also specialize in LGBT weddings, as well as South Asian weddings, where I get a bulk of my experience from.

I hope to see my love for weddings grow more in the future, and I'm wanting to grow my business along with it!

CWEP Project 1 Mood Board

Posted By Sarah L. Hunt, Monday, September 16, 2019

Hi my name is Sarah and I am from Vermont. I have been a stay at home mommy for the past couple of years! My goals as a professional event planner and designer is to one day begin my own wedding and event planning and designing business! I would like to start local and then branch out to other big cities and maybe even countries! I am also excited for the internships to learn as much as possible and meet amazing people!

My experience in this course has been phenomenal! I have learned so much from every chapter and video! There is so much to learn and experience in this industry and I am very thankful for this course! Even when the trends change, there is  still a classic layout to designing and planning within this industry! Thank you for this course and I can't wait for the internships as well!

I have created my project on Wix and walk through the entire experience of how Adriana and Ken Blanco met, even how their proposal occurred and then go through each step of the A8 formula for Anticipation, Attire, Accessories, Appetite, Arrival, Amusement, Atmosphere, and Appreciation! Adriana and Ken got married in Vermont so there families wouldn't have to travel that far. Adriana and Ken had a simple elegant wedding with colors of white, gold, tan, black, and slight pink. The newlyweds wanted to have a formal wedding and 110 people arrived at the ceremony and reception which was at the Green Mountain Inn in Vermont! The bride and groom wore elegant attires with Adriana's dress being an empire, sheath soft elegant dress and Ken wore a sleek black tux! I also included a musical score which followed a classical taste followed by more modern music such as pop hits for the reception! Thank you for reading about my project and you can see more on the Wix site!

Hearts Desire Events "bringing dreams to reality"

Posted By Sandy Akard, Monday, September 16, 2019

Hello my fellow student planners!

My name is Sandy Akard and I am from Runaway Bay, Texas.  I am 50 years old and pursuing my career in event planning.  I was married in 2018 to an amazing man named Alan Akard and am now living out the marriage I have prayed for since my divorce in 2010.

My business is based on the scripture Psalm 20:4 "May he give you the desires of your heart and make all your plans succeed" because that is truly my mission. After having planned several weddings and parties for friends and family, I once had someone ask me what my dream job would be.  I responded with "I would love to be an event planner" to which they replied "you would be SO good at it! why aren't you doing it?" so now here I am "doing it"!

I was married in May 2018 and for my own wedding I wanted to have the perfect blend of my love for modern design as well as my husbands love for the outdoors and his amazing talent in wood working.  So, we had our wedding themed "modern woodsman" in the beautiful Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, AR.  I have attached  a photo collage for your enjoyment of the fun filled event we had that not only united a bride and groom but blended a family.

I have enjoyed taking this course and will apply the knowledge I have learned about establishing a planning business very soon when I launch Hearts Desire Events!

Project 1 Mood Board and Blog Submission

Posted By Lisa Blough, Monday, September 16, 2019
Updated: Monday, September 16, 2019

Hello!  My name is Lisa and I am currently working as a wedding coordinator assistant for one of the best wedding planners around.  I've learned so much from her but I wanted to continue to learn by getting my certification through this program.  My goal is to launch a business of my own in 2020.

For my Project 1 I planned a wedding for a couple where the Bride is Brazilian and the Groom is from a lake community in the south.  The bride wanted an outdoor wedding where it would be natural and beautiful.  She wanted a dusty blue color scheme to evoke the feel of the water.  Her style is classic and elegant.  She doesn't want fussy or frilly.

I planned this wedding with her wishes in mind and added in elegant touches as well as very personal touches with her Brazilian heritage in mind as many of their guests will travel from Brazil to attend.

I had so much fun putting these ideas together.  Enjoy!

Posted By Darcy Sinsley, Sunday, September 15, 2019

Hello!

My name is Darcy Sinsley.  I am taking the class again.  I am a 2009 alumni with WPI.  Taking the course again after taking years off to be a full time Mom.  I love planning events for our local deaf community and for my family.

I love hanging out with my family.  I am married to a wonderful man of 29 years and have 3 kids.  I am learning a lot taking this course but would would love it if the course offered mock event planning assignments so we can get feedback from instructors so we know what to do during real planning stages.

My Mood board was created with the idea of a  Winter Wonderland in September in Atlanta. The overall feel is classic and romantic accentuated by an elegant palette of White, Rose Gold, Pink and Sliver

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Yessenia Jarvey, Sunday, September 15, 2019

Hello everyone! My name is Yessenia and I am from Great Falls Montana. I am currently working as a preschool teacher and I love every minute of it. However Wedding Planning has been my new interest. About a year ago I attended this beautiful riverside wedding. I noticed the bride had this assistant that was helping her throughout the wedding and I couldn't keep my eyes off her. When I went home I then researched wedding planners and feel in love with the career. Although wedding planning is fairly new to me I have always enjoyed planning and decorating. I planned my own graduation party along with a few of my friends. My goal as a wedding planner is to simply make a brides dream come to life. I want to go far in this field and I know starting with this great university I will. So far I have enjoyed the course. It has taken me out of my comfort zone and has allowed me to use my creative skills in a different way. For this project I thought I would design my personal dream wedding. Therefore I took my personal story and added a twist to it. The theme I went with was a romantic floral wedding. My couple is old school and wanted the overall atmosphere to be filled with mystery and glamour. As for the color scheme they went with blush pink, grays and greenery. The food they went with was simple yet unique. Everything was thought out accordingly to the couples style and history.

I spent a lot of time on this project and loved creating it all. Hope you all enjoy!

CWEP Projec 1 - Fall Inspiration

Posted By Alisha T. Stephen, Monday, September 9, 2019
Updated: Monday, September 9, 2019

I thought I'd make a fall inspired wedding mood board as my first project. Fall is around the corner & as the leaves change color, lots of inspiration arises. Fall is known for its red, yellow & orange toned leaves. This color scheme in my opinion is intriguing & beautiful. The bride will stand out in her gorgeous white dress. The groom can stem away from black tuxedos & get away with an nontraditional color like navy, burgundy or even a deep plum.

Hope you guys enjoy! Please provide me with all the feedback possible

Project 3 - Grand Opening of Ohayon Wedding Designs

Posted By Naomi Ohayon, Sunday, September 8, 2019

My name is Naomi Ohayon and for this course I created the business, Ohayon Wedding Designs. I live in Toronto, Ontario where I plan to work as a Planner at a venue or a company. I am looking forward to using the knowledge that I gained from this program and put it into practice.

I wanted to highlight my Moroccan name, which is the name of my business, and so I decided on the theme of an urban rooftop Moroccan experience. I want to give my vendors, network of wedding planners,  clients, friends and family an urban getaway with the tastes and decor of Moroccan culture.

Specializing in weddings in the Jewish and LGBTQ+ community, I included as part of the grand opening,  a fundraiser with proceeds going to LGBTYouthline. Guests will be able to buy raffle tickets to win services and prizes related to weddings and events.

Overall, the course has given me the opportunity to build my skills and understanding of this exciting business.I really enjoyed the projects and the assignments.  I am looking forward to starting my new career. I am pleased and satisfied with my results and happy that I decided to take this course.

Relationship Education Article Review

Posted By Katherine McNamara, Sunday, September 8, 2019

Article review

Psychology today

The Secrets of Great Relationships

This piece seemed to go hand-in-hand with the chapter over viewing relationship education. The most interest point made in this chapter is albeit a briefly made, overarching point, but important nonetheless is highlighting the amount of preparation that a couple puts into a wedding but never the marriage. I think couples believe that once they make it past the stress of the wedding they’ll no longer face an uphill battle. Contrary to their belief though, marriage will almost always be filled with future uphill battles. The chapter provides great resources for prospective couples hoping to build a marriage as well as throwing a lavish wedding. Relationship education should instill values of conflict resolution, respect, and communication.

This article found in Psychology Today outlines fundamental values that couples have found necessary to ensure successful marriages. I think few fully anticipate the degree of change that ensues once you transition from simply a relationship to a marriage. Responsibility, commitment, and vulnerability are all requirements for a happy and healthy partnership. Interestingly, both Psychology Today and the author of our textbook noted the importance of security and confidence outside of the relationship in order to foster a meaningful relationship with another. I think we often forget that we cannot pour what needs to be poured into a relationship if our own personal tanks are empty. We also must be able to exist separate from the person we are in a relationship with. If we lack happiness within ourselves about ourselves, it is unlikely we will truly feel fulfilled in our other personal relationships.

I think it is imperative that couples devote at least as much time to developing and nurturing their relationships with each other as they devote to the planning of a wedding.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Jahneiss Groce, Tuesday, September 3, 2019
For Project 1, I chose Fall vintage weddings because I love how you can still use so much color but colors that are more warm tone. I also love how you can create a beautiful romantic vibe with the fall colors schemes. Candlelight and the right color scheme paired with the beautiful but not so harsh sunlight and/ the gorgeous sunset if you have a late wedding make for the perfect romantic fall wedding. I also like how you can include tree bark, lanterns and lots of greenery during that time of year, which otherwise wouldn't really fit with a spring, summer or winter event.

The bride and bridesmaid are both wearing chiffon low back dresses with the bridesmaid dresses having a rose gold metallic coloring. The groomsmen are wearing sleek black tuxes for attire. The appetite for the evening is salmon wraps on elegant white plates! The cake is again following an elegant simple white theme which matches the anticipation wedding invitations which are all white with a pop out texture!

The atmosphere at the wedding and ceremony is an enclosed white elegant intimate feel featuring curtains draped around the walls and ceilings with a nice chandelier glow lighting! The tables are white and glass with white and gold chairs.

Hey yall.
My name is Angelica Harlow and I'm from Dallas, TX. I am currently a stay at home mom but I have always loved weddings. I loved planning my own and I have often jumped in on the day of for family and friends wedding being day of coordinator. I am excited for this journey and taking the next step to becoming a full on Wedding Planner. For my theme I went with a country fall theme that my sister has always wanted in the Hill Country of Texas. Very rustic, simple, country homey feel to it. I went with rice krispies instead of a cake as my sister (bride) is gluten free and felt it made it very unique.
Enjoy!!!

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Sandra Navarro, Friday, August 30, 2019
Hi, my name is Sandra Navarro. I’m in Southern California and this will be my “second act.” I worked in the executive corporate world for many years where it’s all about the details.  On the creative side, I’m a jewelry designer & teacher specializing in vintage/antique rhinestone jewelry and I also have a degree in Interior Design. I thought Wedding & Event Planning would be a great way to use my skills and experience to help couples plan their special day.

I’ve really enjoyed going through the planning process and crossing all the “I’s” and dotting all the “T’s.” I can now add “Website Design” to my list of services.

The couple for my Project 1 are established professionals who want a romantic/elegant wedding with a boho vibe.  It will be a late afternoon/early evening, semi-formal event in late June.  The color scheme is Raspberry and Golden Olive Green with accents of vintage gold.
