Updated: Monday, July 3, 2017

Hello Everyone!

My name is LaDonna, I am a Washington, DC native and remain in the DMV area. I have been a Substance Abuse Counselor for nearly 20 years. I have coordinated events and weddings for the past 10 years. It has mostly been a hobby and my clients have been getting the best deal around because of my enjoyment. I really do love planning for events and a find a sense of peace in being creative. My goal is to establish a successful and client oriented business as a Certified Wedding/ Event Planner. What started as a hobby is becoming my dream come true!

Having planned events in the past prepared me for this project. I had a great time exploring and reading articles as it relates to Project 1.

My Project is a Wedding for a couple that met while in college. They both expressed importance of uniqueness. They are having a Fall, relatively small, early evening wedding at a mansion.  The couple plans to honeymoon in Cuba!

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Erika Gonzalez, Sunday, July 2, 2017

Hello everyone,

My name is Erika Gonzalez and I am currently in Miami, Florida. I have lived here all my life and I have loved it, despite how hot it may get! I am a 4th grade teacher yearning to explore other options. I love teaching, but I am craving something more. Which is why I decided to explore this amazing opportunity.

Attached you can find my Mood Board I created on Canva for a modern summer wedding. The warm colors, elegant decorations, and lighting of the day give this special wedding that extra touch and I believe any bride/groom who are leaning towards a modern summer wedding may approve of this board.

Enjoy!! :)

Project 1-Plan a Wedding (The Williams Way)

Posted By LaQuoia Gibson, Sunday, July 2, 2017
Updated: Sunday, July 2, 2017

Hello, my name is LaQuoia Gibson. I am from Oakland, CA! I'm a Business Admin for a video game company in San Francisco. I plan to assist companies and clients in the Bay Area by providing great events and parties! This course has taught me so much fundamentally. There is so much to learn in the industry and this is the perfect place to build up your knowledge and educate yourself on event life.

This project is for a wedding hosted in the Bay Area. The lovely couple has sought me out to plan and coordinate their event. They had a difference in style but came to a compromise which basically means the bride got everything she wanted (lol).

Enjoy!!!

Project 1

Posted By Courtney Levasseur, Saturday, July 1, 2017

Hello everyone!

My name is Courtney Levasseur and I am originally from New Jersey but now I live in the sunshine state. I moved to Florida about 3 years ago for College and  I attended Full Sail University and graduated with a degree in Music Business. I always had a passion for working in event management, there is a variety of jobs in the industry where you can express yourself and be creative in your line of work. Around a year ago I decided that I wanted to work in the wedding industry and become a wedding planner. I would always watch the wedding shows that would come on and always thought how amazing that job would be to make someones special day come true. After help planning my aunt's wedding last year I knew that this is the industry I belong in. My goal is to someday have my own company or work with a high profile event company in the future. My project is based on my aunt and uncle's wedding from this year and what I would have done if I was the wedding planner. The wedding takes place in fall so the theme is rustic with a touch of elegance. I love rustic and barn weddings so I wanted to add my own style to it with a modern touch to it. . The color theme will be grey, burgundy and hints of gold throughout. This project was fun and creative and I loved planning every detail of the wedding.

Project 2. Marry&More Events

Posted By Mireia M. Mauri, Thursday, June 29, 2017
Updated: Thursday, June 29, 2017

My name is Mireia, I am originally from Barcelona, I have lived many years in Germany and currently I am happy to call San Francisco my home.
I have always loved being involved in the organisation of all kind of social events, but it was when I was planning my own wedding in 2016 that I realized how passionate I was about this.

Mine was not a common wedding, starting with the location: an uninhabited village in the middle of lakes and mountains, an incomparable scenery but with no water supply, no electricity, and a very poor cell phone coverage. We succesfully overcame all the challenges along the way and the event was a great success. The village does not yet appear on Google Maps, but our guests will for sure never forget that place.

After organizing my wedding, and with all the lessons learned, I decided to go further and get my certificate in Wedding and Event Planning, with the determination of helping other people like me.

Preparing this project I could better picture how my business will be and define more clearly my target market. In the next months I will work on my corporate image and I will fine-tune my strategy and action plan. My goal is to have everything ready to launch my own business by the end of this year.

PROJECT 1: PLAN A SOCIAL EVENT OR WEDDING

Posted By Twala Lockhart, Thursday, June 29, 2017

HI, my name is Twala Lockhart and I thoroughly enjoyed working on this  project. I  learned so much about all of the details that go in to planning a wedding,  and didn't realize  the value of having a wedding planner until now.  Coming up with the mood board and the presentation was easy.  However, the logistics of lining up  vendors and composing a timeline was a challenge. But  I was able to complete it all and I think everything turned out beautifully. I can't  wait for the next project!

Being a student here at Lovegevity has given me the tools to move forward in a career that I have always wanted to be in. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to explore this option. Good luck to all the other students who are on their way to the wedding planning world!

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Crystal Devin Fisher, Tuesday, June 27, 2017
Updated: Tuesday, June 27, 2017

I am Crystal Fisher. I am currently the sales & event manager at an event venue in Houston. I've worked at venues since I started in the hospitality industry, and I truly enjoy being the venue representative. My venue is full service, so we provide the food & beverage service in addition to the space. I am taking this course to better serve the brides and other clients that book my venue for their special events. Completing project 1 was a fun, and sometimes, challenging process. As a sales manager at a venue, I'm never involved in coordinating vendors like attire, invitations, transportation or floral. Working on this project has given me a little more experience in this error. I was able to incorporate ideas that I've seen work at other events, add things that I thought were missing when I've done other event, and avoid things that I've seen fail. One of my favorite spaces in Houston--aside from mine--is the Hobby Center for Performing Arts. I created a couple and their vision based on the space and it's potential. The Hobby Center has these long windows and asymmetrical shape that screams modern, so I created a modern and ultra-chic event that doesn't shy away from the personal touches or guest amenities. I walk through the entire A8 formula, slide by slide, in addition to budget breakdown and vendor information. The sleek steel, black and white design of Lance and Alicia's wedding is really a treat!

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Shanna Danielle Doty, Monday, June 26, 2017
Hello! My name is Shanna Doty! I'm from The Woodlands, Texas. I just recently moved back to Texas from North Carolina. Before starting to learn more about wedding and event planning I was a Cheer and Dance Coach at the college level in North Carolina. I have loved my experience so far in this class. I'm learning so much about what it takes to be a successful wedding planner. This project was great because it showed me exactly how much goes into planning a wedding. I had so much fun doing the research and looking at potential venues. It was a lot of work but it didn't feel like work because I was enjoying it! My inspiration for this project was Disney's The Princess and the Frog. I incorporated a 1920's New Orleans atmosphere while adding subtle Disney touches like the firefly centerpieces and signature drink!

Project 1 Blog Post

Posted By Ariana Elizabeth Silva, Monday, June 26, 2017
My name is Ariana Silva and I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada, but I just recently moved to Cypress, Texas in June of 2016. I am a recently graduate of Cy-Fair High School, class of 2017! My goal as an event planner is to work for an corporation and be their head event coordinator there where I will plan happy hours, luncheons, dinners, galas, etc. My experience in this course so far has been mind blowing! I've learned so much knowledge about everything that goes along with event planning from starting your own business, to floral arrangements, to the continuing education requirements it takes to be an event coordinator. This project gave me a good look into how much goes into planning an event and also gave me a good formula to use when planning to assure you hit every key note. My project is an elegant fall wedding in Houston, Texas, with the color scheme of navy blue and burnt orange with hints of dark brown. I worked very hard on this project and I hope that comes across as people look over it!

Required Assignment Mood Board

Posted By Marianne Mijares, Friday, June 23, 2017
Updated: Thursday, July 6, 2017

My name is Marianne and I am currently the Director of Events for the University of Miami Frost School of Music.  I strongly believe in professional development and thought that obtaining my Certification in Wedding and Event Planning would add to my current experience.  The inspiration for the board I created is based on my co-worker who recently got engaged.  She met her boyfriend on an online dating application named Hinge, that was linked to your friends on Facebook.  They are in their mid-twenties and this would be the first marriage for both of them.  He is from the mid-west and a true gentleman, hence the rustic chic theme.  They want a classy but simple wedding that incorporates both their taste and background.  I have a sincere appreciation for Wedding Planners, especially since I know how much research and time goes into creating each event.  Looking forward to completing Project #1 and learning the tricks of the trade.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Nashara d. Mayhew, Thursday, June 22, 2017
Updated: Thursday, June 22, 2017

Hello!  My name is Nashara Mayhew, and I never know how to answer the question "Where are you from?" because I'm from all over!  I was born in Louisiana and moved to Missouri as a toddler and was there until about 10 years old.  After that, I moved to Texas for about six years and then moved to Atlanta for a year.  I attended undergrad in North Carolina until 2015, and I moved back to Texas where I currently reside - so I'll leave it to you to answer that question!  I currently work for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Irving where I partner with high school students as they connect with their mentors throughout their high school journey.

I've definitely enjoyed this course so far!  I love hearing about different weddings and the instructor's experiences with her wedding planning business.  This project was pretty intense for me - I never realized how many small details go into planning a wedding.  Every time I thought I was finished, I realized I left another detail out!  It's definitely fun coming up with an idea and what you want an event to look like, but it's difficult and time-consuming to work out all of the logistics.  This will definitely be something to work on in the future.

I have some childhood friends who are currently in a serious relationship.  There hasn't been a proposal yet, but they definitely know and have talked about spending the rest of their lives together.  This couple is who I based my project on, so essentially when he is ready to pop the question, the planning process would have already been started through my project.  My couple is definitely far from traditional, and they wanted two completely different vibes between the ceremony and reception, so that was a challenge trying to bring it all together.  I had fun, and I look forward to showing them some of my ideas.  My mood board is below and link to wixsite is https://nasharamayhew.wixsite.com/mysite.

This is my first college course but what a wonderful experience.  I am retired from a 30 year career from a government job and so enjoy being able to use my creativity and learn new programs as well.  I would love to be a wedding planner because it would bring me joy to help create a once in a lifetime wedding to each and every couple I would have the pleasure of doing business with.

My Lovegevity Experience

Posted By LaQuoia Gibson, Thursday, June 22, 2017

What a journey this has been. I have learned so much taking this course. When I first decided I wanted to be an event planner, it was while assisting my aunt with her event company. I had the chance to work behind the scenes with planning, calling vendors, setting the stage, and all moving parts involved.

While speaking with a flower vendor one day, she mentioned this course and how she wanted to take the flower design class. She recommended that I also take a look at it. After looking at the website, i knew this was the class for me! From start to finish, the wealth of knowledge and insight that I have gained over the past few months has helped me so much. Learning everything from plotting a timeline, to how to charge for my services to branding and PR.

Lovegevity provides you with all the tools you need to be successful and to run your own business. I would recommend everyone take this course!

Project 1

Posted By Tori Wardell, Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Hello! My name is Tori Wardell! I have just recently graduated college with my bachelor's in General studies. While in college I was in a sorority and loved planning all of the events for the chapter. After realizing my love for planning I realized I wanted to help plan people's special days and make them everything they've dreamed of!

My inspiration for this first project were my friend's September wedding. We live in Texas so September is really the tail end of summer. The night was cool which made for a comfortable ceremony. I wanted to plan a classic elegant wedding. Something that I feel never goes out of style! The black and white really coordinate well together making for a timeless event!

CWEP Project 1: Plan a Social Event or Wedding

Posted By Rachel L. Umile, Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Hello, my name is Rachel and I am from Langhorne Pennsylvania. During my junior year of college I had decided that what I wanted to do with my life was help create and plan the one day that is unforgettable to many people, their wedding day. Last month I graduated from college and I decided that I wanted to become a certified wedding planner before I started looking for a job because I felt that if my résumé said that I was a certified wedding planner, I would be more likely to find a job that I would enjoy. This course has taught me so much already and I am enjoying every minute of it.

The inspiration for my Project 1 were my best friend and her fiancé. They have been together for years now and just got engaged. They plan to have a long engagement since Keegan is currently still in school but they asked me to plan their wedding with their specific budget to see if it was actually possible. They gave me a $20,000 budget, a request for a traditional and romantic wedding, and colors they plan to use for their wedding. I had a lot of fun creating this project because I feel as if I am really helping them plan their wedding. They have already told me that when the time comes that not only will I be in the wedding but I will be planning it too. This project definitely helped me with understand wedding planning and I believe I will benefit a lot from this project.

Project 1: Plan a Social Event

Posted By Colleen M. ViaFriend (McCasey), Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Updated: Thursday, June 22, 2017

My name is Colleen and I currently reside in McKinney, TX.  My husband and I are transplants from Colorado to Texas 11 years ago for our jobs.  We both originate from the East Coast, where we met 30 years ago in Providence, Rhode Island.  We are empty nesters, but have less spare time it seems then when our two children were at home.  I have worked in the corporate world for the past 27+ years in the Operations, Training/HR, and Development departments for one of world’s largest QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) Companies.  In my spare time I volunteer for a local North Texas animal rescue, and have 3 rescued furry children that we call “the boys”.

My inspiration for Project 1: “Planning a Social Event” was my Son and his Fiancé late summer wedding.  Their wedding is planned for later this summer over the weekend of August 12th, outside of Durango, CO.  Planning began last year prior to the fall holidays, but many of the details are just coming to life.  Over the Mother’s Day weekend, our families joined together in Breckenridge CO with the bride and groom.  We finalized details and created a timeline for tasks that needed to still be completed.

My presentation is a combination of the details provided for the actual upcoming wedding and additional ideas that will enhance the guest experience during the event.  This has been a great experience and I look forward to sharing my creation and continuing to learn more from my peers and networks during this course.
