Grand Opening (project #3)

Posted By Diana Villarmarzo, Monday, December 12, 2016

Grand Opening

Just when the journey seems to come to an end; its only in the beginning phases. This course has taught me what the true meaning of a planner is, and has taught me the skills to launch a business. I would not say the learning ends here. Just like I mentioned, its only the beginning.

In the grand opening, the guest will walk into what seems like a beautiful wedding, but will have the liberty to mix and mingle with our company and other vendors. We hope al guests leave happy and impacted by our services.

Project 2

Posted By Kimberly A. Martin, Sunday, December 11, 2016
This project made me get into the details of how I'd handle my clients, present myself and made me reflect on how I want to move forward with event planning. In total I spent over 2 weeks working on just this project alone. Thankfully, I had completed the assignments that correlated with the project, so it was TOO challenging, but it was very time consuming. I always find myself googling other things that come to mind as I'm working on any Lovegevity assignment.....maybe that explains why I'm taking so long to finish!

What a Journey!!

Posted By Avery Whitehorn, Saturday, December 10, 2016
Wow this has been a crazy Journey! I have truly enjoyed the time I have spent in this wedding and event planning course. Although it has been difficult at times, I feel like I am well prepared to venture into this new journey as a wedding planner. Lovegevity has set me up on a path to success, and I am extremely excited to see where this road takes me. I hope that I can carry with me all the great information I have learned from this class and all the podcasts, and apply it to the real life experiences I am about to embark on. I am so excited to be finishing my last few projects and assignments, so that I can be this much closer to earning my certification!! It's a very exciting time in my life right now, and I truly have to thank Lovegevity for playing a role in that!!

Collin College: Project 3: Firefly Events- Grand Opening #cwep #collin college #project 3

Project Three: FireFly Events Grand Opening

I learned so much from this project. From learning how to align my business in the market to getting involved the community, this project really challenged me to find a business plan that could stick to.

To create anticipation, I would plan to create a specialty invitation and send it out to all potential vendors and popular local news stations. I think this should be done two months or so out from the event. This will allow me to sort out RSVP and gradually add promo stuff as the date gets closer.

I will have the grand opening at Gather in Downtown McKinney. The linens, florals, and caterer will be donated by local preferred vendors. Instead of a full meal, there will be appetizers, open bar, and live band.

After a little bit of networking, I will introduce Firefly events. I will hit the following point:

Firefly is the newest, up & coming event planning coming in the North DFW area.

Firefly specializes in both social and corporate events.

Establishes Website with blog.

Experience within the field

Business Structure

To show my appreciation for those attend, I will have favors with my business information to be delivered to each guest before they leave the event. In addition, I will have a donation station setup for Volunteer McKinney. During the holiday season, the organization will need to donations for the Family Christmas program. The program gets gifts together for families who may not be able to afford it.

I enjoyed putting this project together, especially because our instructor gave us the opportunity to get a hands-on experience and actually create  and combine all the elements required to create a "WOW" factor for our Grand Opening project.

I immensely enjoyed doing Project #3 the most.  It really had me actually envisioning what my actual Grand opening will be like.  It was a lot of work.  I really put a lot of time, energy, effort and finances into it but it was more than worth it.  I enjoyed preparing the food that will eventually be served at my actual grand opening.  I presented last so that when we were done presenting our projects we could enjoy a meal and cake for dessert.  The class seemed to really enjoy the presentation.  I got positive and encouraging feedback from the class.

18.6 Blog Entry

Posted By Maria Andrea Acosta, Wednesday, December 7, 2016

18.6

Looking back at the past 10 weeks i can't believe how fast they went by. I was pleasantly surprised by how much hard work goes into planning a wedding, it has so many moving parts. I enjoyed all the projects and assignments, i feel prepared to start working in the wedding industry confident that i received a quality education. What the text book can't teach you and our teacher Jessica Estrada successfully did is the amount of patience, passion and determination we need to succeed. The hands on experience with her could never have been taught in a classroom. I would recommend this course 100% and hope to come back for additional learning experiences.

Project 3

Updated: Monday, December 5, 2016

This has been a pretty great experience. I can't believe we only have a couple of classes left and then we'll be fully certified wedding and event planners. It seemed to go by so fast.

Here's my submission for Project 3. I hope you like it.

http://keelyaylene.wixsite.com/yellowroseevents

I enjoyed putting all of this together. My grand opening is held in the Red Barn in Aubrey and will have a silent auction benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. Vendors will be there displaying their products and services for the guests. Guests will be able to mingle and eat and drink while getting ideas and trying things for their weddings or events.

What an Experience!

Posted By Joyce Govrin, Sunday, December 4, 2016

I can’t believe there are only two classes left and we are presenting our final project this week. Wow! What an experience! While challenging at times, this course has given me the knowledge and tools to be able to realize my dream in opening a business in event planning.  I have learned from the details of a wedding ceremony and how to create a wedding timeline, to actually create a budget, put together a business plan and market my business on social media!  A very thorough and complete course.  Thank you LWPI.

Project 2

This assignment was so rewarding. I plan to use the majority of the information in my real business once it takes off, excluding some things like the business plan and tweeking some of the pages. I think all of these assignments are spot on as far as  preparing you for the real world of wedding and event planning. I am so excited about starting my internship to put all the pieces together!! Hope you guys enjoy my project.

PROJECT 1

Posted By Makenzie Burud, Sunday, December 4, 2016

Andrea and Brody's Wedding will be a true Winter Wonderland!! The wedding will take place on Saturday December 9, 2017 at 5:00pm in the evening. The ceremony and reception will take place at the Villa Borghese in Upstate New York. Accommodations will be at The Fishkill Courtyard Mariott. This wedding was inspired after interviewing my best friend, Andrea. She described her dream wedding in the winter time, and wanted to create a magical winter atmosphere for her guests, while also incorporating her and her fiance's love storyHer attire will be a beautiful long sleeve laced gown with an open back, as Andrea described she wasn't a fan of how how are arms looked in sleeveless dresses. The colors of the wedding will be midnight blue, gray, and white, to really create a "magical night" kind of feel. There will be limited flowers at the wedding with much more focus on twinkle lights and the use of branches to create that evening winter night theme. To add to that, there will be a hot chocolate and a smores bar to keep guests warm and feeling in the winter spirit! There will be a small christmas tree with midnight blue and white ornaments where guests will be able to write advice for the couple. The guests will be taking home personalized coffee mugs, due to Andrea and Brody's love for coffee!! Along with this, there will be both a photo and video booth and a basketball hoop shoot due to the couple's love of basketball. Other elements that make this element a signature wedding will the be the announcement of the bridal party in the form of a basketball scouting report and a basketball cake topper! The night will be extra special with a sparkler send off!!The venue was selected due to a number of factors: 1) Andrea wanted to get married indoors and the Villa Borghese could accommodate both an indoor ceremony and reception. 2) The venue's layout fit perfectly with the winter theme 3) The Villa Borghese offers extensive packages, hotel deals, and design services. The food will be a plated meal offering three options of steak, chicken, and a vegetarian options. Andrea also requested my full planning package, which includes minor assistance with design. Her budget was $40,000 and we were able to stay under budget!! This wedding will be a night to remember and one my best friend and her fiance will never forget!

I loved this project and hope you guys will enjoy it too!!

Experience that will last a lifetime!!

Posted By Anita Cook-Wilder, Sunday, December 4, 2016

I have really enjoyed this Wedding Planning Course. The projects and assignments that we have been assigned in this class has been very instrumental to helping me feel very confident in my future. Some of the projects have been very challenging but it has helped me realize all that comes with the business side of the wedding industry. Even though my interests also include special events, I know I will be able to build upon what I learned during this course for any event!!

Wedding Creation Project#1

William & Kate

10.17.2017

___________

A wedding should reflect the couple in as many ways as possible. William and Kate both met on a plane, to then realize they had a mutual friend, studied in the same school, and even worked in the same block. It was evident, they were destined to be together just like in a fairytale.  The reception inspiration includes old hollywood glamour to resemble a classic love stories such as Gone with the Wind. Simultaneously, they also wanted to incorporate modern touches of today. The combination of the two blended perfectly for this couple. Take a look...
