Project # 2

Posted By Sully Arias-Serna, Saturday, November 3, 2018

This project helped me structure all my scattered business ideas, and provided me with a better understanding on what to direction when starting a business. It made me realize there are a lot of details I still to need to consider. The assignment over all was an excellent first step to help organize and develop my business ideas.

CWEP Project 2

Posted By Gabriela Ramos, Thursday, November 1, 2018
I found project two be very beneficial in starting a career in the wedding industry.  It tackled information regarding the logistics and requirements that are mandatory when planning a wedding.  Furthermore, the knowledge I obtained from this assignment, certainly helps me to continue working towards my goal, which is to become a full scale wedding coordinator.

Project 2 experience

Posted By Vayda Sorel, Thursday, November 1, 2018

Hello,

My name is Vayda and I am super new to event planning and super eager to lgain more hands on experience.

Completing Project 2 showed me more clearly all that goes into planning an event. There are the most particular details, both decor and logistics wise, that matter so much.

I wouldn't say that weddings are my preference as an event planner, I am more into social events (i.e., holiday parties, engagement dinners, baby showers, etc.). Nonetheless, Lovegevity provides so much useful information on how to build relationships with vendors and your clientele, how to start drafting your business plan, how to include every little detail in your time line and so much more.

EmpressV Events is the name of my brand.

I wish you all the best with your projects and may you all be successful in your future endeavors.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By LaShaye Allen, Wednesday, October 31, 2018
Hello my name is LaShaye and I am from Little Rock, Arkansas. I am currently a customer service representative for an insurance company however my passion is event planning. I currently help friends and family members plan baby showers, birthday parties and an assortment of other events. My goal to eventually plan more larger scale events and to be known as a creative genius! This is currently my first course in professional event planning however I am loving it. I had the pleasure to plan this fall themed wedding for Jamie and Brian. I have enjoyed creating a wedding for my clients because they are not very traditional. My clients don’t want a wedding cake, they love pop and rock music and the words  fun and outgoing are used to describe the couple. This couple decided to go with the color scheme of blush pink and navy blue. The bride and bridesmaids will all be adorned in "flowy" sheath dresses while the men will wear navy suits with pink accessories There will be plenty of food and tons of activities for the guests to participate in.

Relationship Education : Blog article review

Posted By Harrison Fink, Tuesday, October 30, 2018

The Article i read was "Never say this about your Partner"

The article consisted of the couple not communicating with each other and the marriage been in a state of negative stasis. The wife would go to her friends and vent and say things that were negative to her husband. Eventually they make way to him and he is hurt. They start talking and after some time develop a healthy line of communications and work things out.

What i got from this article is that it doesn't help to be passively aggressive or just passive in general. There need to be equal amount of communication from each side or things will be assumed and implied, usually for the worse.

CWEP Project Two

Posted By Navadha Modha, Tuesday, October 30, 2018

Hello Everyone,

Attached is my take on project #2 for this class. My company's name is Ineffable Celebrations. The idea for the name came to me from literally not being able to come up with a name. Ineffable means "too great to be expressed in words". I figured it really summarized how I felt in the moment and what I really wanted my business to model.

I hope you all enjoy my breakdown of how to handle the primary meeting with a client in the Indian Wedding Market. Thank you!

Project 2 Essay

Posted By Sharon Michaux, Monday, October 29, 2018
Updated: Monday, October 29, 2018

Hello,

My name is Sharon Michaux and I reside in Richmond, VA.  I am the mother of three, step mother of two and “Glamma to one Glamdaughter”.

I enjoy gatherings, home parties or “Gurls Night”.  I have had numerous opportunities to plan different events throughout the years, also help plan a few weddings. My friends and family have been encouraging me to start a business.  I knew this is what I desired to do, and soon realized that I didn’t have the desired knowledge to pursue event planning.  During my research, I saw this class at VCU offered by Lovegevity Wedding Institute, and I was inspired. I enrolled in the class and realized that “Wedding Planning” is not what I really wanted to do, mainly because I am more inspired by the design, not the logistics. I realized, however, that this class was a great source of information for me. It focused on not only the logistics of planning, but also the logistics of starting a business.  The info is invaluable.  It has challenged me in oh so m any ways.  I’m also learning to be more “Tech” and “Social Media” savvy, which is vital in this day and time. So here we go!

Iconic Events by JustShay will be a Richmond based “One Stop Shop” wedding/event venture. It will offer everything you will need to make your wedding/event dreams come true, from Full-Service Planning to Day of Coordinating.

I will be the owner and Lead Planner/Decorator.  My goal is to make your wedding/event planning stress free.  I will offer three (3) “All-Inclusive” wedding packages for the Busy, Not Sure and Well Prepared, Budget Conscience Bride.

I enjoy seeing people happy, satisfied and relaxed in their decision making.  My aim is to have my client(s) leave knowing that everything is taken care of at one location.

My plans are to own a venue with a Chapel for the wedding ceremony and a Reception Hall for the reception or other events.

I will offer the following vendor services, Planner, Day of Coordinator, Catering/Bakery, Photographer, DJ, Designer/Decorator for Ceremony /Reception and Florist.  Hotel Suite for bride/groom and wedding party to get dressed also, transportation to the venue. The venue will provide tables, chairs, linens and table settings.  We will also setup and breakdown your event.

I see my business expanding in 5-10 years to a “Wedding Campus”, to include a Bridal Boutique, Travel Agency, Restaurant, Bakery, Limo Rental Service, Hair and Makeup Salon, etc. I will also add a Bridal and Groom Suite to the venue.

This will truly enable the client to do everything in one place!!!

I am by nature highly organized and detail oriented, therefore planning and details have always been second nature to me and has also been a passion. This course has given me the knowledge of “Best Practices” in this industry, helping me to gain ideas that will help me be an Icon in this business and stand out from the crowd.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Colby A. Richardson, Monday, October 29, 2018

Hello, my name is Colby Richardson and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am originally from Boston, MA and moved here 8 years ago to go to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While attending, I studied International Communications and French. Working in the food and beverage industry throughout college showed me how much I love talking to people and helping them have the best experience I could provide. After college, I decided to pursue my lifelong desire to become a wedding planner.

I currently work for Marriott International and hope to learn as much as possible through our Wedding and Events department, before starting my own company one day. My long term goal is to provide exceptional service, flawless execution of clients visions, at an affordable price.

For Project 1, Josh Royal and Shay Martinez wanted a cool, unique yet romantic atmospere. To achieve that with a budget of $40K; we went with purple, blue, gold and white for a royally intimate feel. Guests will arrive to the hotel, in the heart of the city, and be escorted to an enchanted evening, in late November of 2019. Cascades of locally grown deep violets and electric blue flowers will fill the hallways leading to the reception where amazing cuisine and custom libations await. White and gold plates will be set, with wine and water glasses, proper gold utensils and deep plum settings, guests are urged to tag their photo posts with the hashtag #RoyallyInLove. Personal touches include personalized place settings, a flower photo wall of the couple’s journey together, and custom candle favors. For the couples send off, there will be a mini box of deep violet and electric blue flowers for each guest to shower them with. As a personal touch, I like to have a mini “take care” bag waiting for the newlyweds inside their getaway car. Inside I put; water, mini snacks, wipes, deodorant, mouthwash, a mini sewing kit, champagne, and a personalized gift. Whether it is a custom wine glasses, or custom wine stoppers, I like to cater it to the style of the couple I am working with.

CWEP PROJECT 1

Posted By Cheri Peoples, Sunday, October 28, 2018

Hello my name is Cheri Peoples.  I have worked in telecommunications for 24 years until recently being laid off.  It is  now time for me to rediscover myself. So, here I am trying my skill at becoming a Certified Wedding and Event Planner.  This course is more detailed than I ever thought it would be. Project 1 was a challenge for me because I had never done PowerPoint, Wix, Canva, or blogging.  However, I am not a quitter and I pushed forward to complete this project.  I have definitely thought outside of the box on this because I like a challenge.  I like planning and organizing parties for myself and others. Randy Ro is awesome.  I really like his style and knowledge in this business. Eventually I would like to own my own venue.

My couple is Michelle and Donald. They met two years ago by way of mutual friends. They will wed on October 26, 2019 at The Lost Oak Winery. Their colors are neon. It will be an outdoor ceremony by the pond with chairs decorated in neon colored bows. They have chosen the theme "Let It Glow".  The reception will be inside at The Lost Oak Event Center with glow in the dark neon decorations.  I hope you enjoy.

A Kevin Lee Wedding !

Posted By Kairavi Hariawala, Saturday, October 27, 2018

Kevin Lee!! When this magnificent person touches anything, it turns into gold. Kevin has planned, organized and managed so many dreamlike beautiful weddings, parties and celebrations! In addition, he has now added one more feather to his cap and I was fortunate to witness his work and style. Being on board to learn the techniques, how to be calm and composed during such a chaotic atmosphere is a blessing!

Kevin Lee recently planned and organized a beautiful wedding at Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California in mid-October. For this wedding, a complete timeline was prepared and verified, duties/responsibilities were distributed among all the team members, interns and vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page. The scheme of the wedding was simple and elegant, white! Most of the decorations for the wedding ceremony and reception was using white flowers & leaves/greens. This wedding venue was so grand that you would need a shuttle to travel from one banquet to another, not to mention it was also stylishly elegant and luxurious!

The wedding involved 2 day wedding rituals/traditions and celebrations. A day before the wedding ceremony & reception, Katubah signing & Shabbat dinner took place at the lawn in evening around 5.30 PM. The dinner tables were set-up with linens, small pink & very light purple floral bouquets, flowers arranged in tall centerpiece vase, small candle in golden glass surrounding the vase and bouquets were used as centerpieces. Patio heaters were also systematically arranged between the tables to comfort the guests. The stage was about 1 foot of height, white floored where combination of big pink & very light purple floral bouquets were placed complimenting the beautiful natural colors of sunset. It was so romantic! The Challah Bread was brought out and placed near the stage. After the signing, Shabbat dinner was open for everyone, followed by dance. But, due to inclement weather, whole setting and arrangements were moved to a nearest banquet. Thank God for Kevin and his team who obviously had a plan B, which saved the day!

The Day!! Wedding day was finally here! After months of planning, it was time to execute and make one more dream come true! Groom and Bride’s shadows were appointed to take care of the couple like a helping hand to help them relax with anything and everything they need. Groom wore a black & white tux with white & yellow boutonniere for the ceremony. Bride wore a beautiful one shoulder detachable train mermaid wedding gown with beaded lace and white light feathers at the bottom of the gown. She also donned a cathedral lace veil with a high bun supporting it. For the jewelry, the Bride kept it simple with just earrings, tiara and a bracelet. She looked absolutely breathtaking! There were around 8-10 groomsmen and 16-19 bridesmaids. Groomsmen wore a formal black suit and bridesmaids wore different colored gowns keeping the ceremony bright and colorful. Flower girls were dressed in cute white dresses with a floral tiara!

About 800 guests were expected for the wedding. All the guest cards and decorations using white flowers was arranged very intricately and wonderfully at a small lawn near the banquet where reception was going to take place. The style of music chosen for the wedding was a combination of both, a live band which flew in from Israel and a DJ. Pre-Cocktail began at 2.30 PM where musicians & DJ were all set and ready to go. At this time, the stylish and sumptuous bar and buffet were open to the guests as well. Cocktail started around 5.30 PM. Kevin and his team made sure the guests were moving from cocktail area to ceremony area after they all had snacks and beverages.

At the time of ceremony, musician started playing music and the couple with the bridal party lined up for their grand entry. Processional began and the Groom took place at the altar followed by MOG (Mother of the Groom), MOB (Mother of the Bride), Bridesmaids/Groomsmen, Maid/Matron of honor/Best Man, flower girls and Bride’s entry with Father. The rings and vows were exchanged. The couple were announced as Husband and Wife! One could easily see the love they had for each other and it was a dreamlike! They truly are made for each other.

The wedding ceremony took place at the lawn in evening after sunset. Aisle was glamorous gold mirror wedding runner with white and light yellow flowers arranged on both sides of the aisle. 3 Staircases were provided for entering the aisle. The guest chairs were white and a pashmina was placed on each chair for the guests.

After the ceremony, it was now time for reception at the Pacific Ballroom where the music was playing, waiters lined up ready to serve and so were the rest of the food stations. Reception started and the MC (Master of Ceremonies) announced Mr. & Mrs. for the first time, followed by their first dance!  A little later the MC invited the family members to the dance floor as well. At this point, band took a break and DJ started playing music allowing Father- Daughter and Mother-Son dance, after which all the guests joined in. The dining tables were decorated using white linens, small white floral bouquets and candelabrum as centerpieces. The wedding cake was a 7 tier with white flowers on them which in turn was placed surrounded by flowers on the round table at the center of the aligned dinner tables. After cake-cutting, there was a petal dance followed by bouquet toss and garter toss. Dancing and celebrations continued until next day early morning where light snacks were served.

Hats off to Kevin Lee, Sergio and team!!! They truly made everything seem so easy, gorgeous and right on point! All the vendors especially decorators worked efficiently day and night to set up the elegant and romantic ambiance and it looked so amazing! The entire team was co-operative and supportive of anything the couple and their families asked for. They always had a plan B to every unpredictable situation or circumstances that may come up. This is a dream team to work with and can’t wait to be a part of their many more upcoming projects.

Thank you so much Lovegevity and Team for this opportunity. It was truly an amazing experience! I wish to learn and gain further hands-on experience. Here's to a lot more exciting events!

Updated: Saturday, October 27, 2018

Hi Everyone!

My name is Gabriela and I'm originally from Northern Virginia.  Within the past year I've grown an exponential amount of interest in working for the wedding industry and I am currently a wedding coordinator in training at the Hofheimer Event Venue in Scott's Addition.  Furthermore, I enrolled in this particular course because I wanted to expand my knowledge even further regarding wedding/event planning.  The project that I'm presenting on this blog is a mock wedding that I planned for one of the students in my class, Harrison Fink.  The goal was to create a casual, but chic style outdoor wedding that incorporates earthy tones to truly reflect the bride and groom's personality.
