Project #1 Blog - Look West Events

Posted By Christen Westcott, Saturday, July 6, 2019

1. My name is Christen Westcott and I am the Founder of Look West Events. I am from Southlake, TX. My background is in Marketing/Communications. My goal is to acquire at least 2 clients in 2019 and 5 in 2020.

2. This course has been helpful in starting to identify the venues and vendors that I would recommend to clients. This project has helped me to think outside of the box and consider the various styles and themes that my clients will ask for. I am grateful for the 'database' that this course has propelled me to create so that I can easily call up vendor information and pricing details.

3. The project I am presenting is a nautical themed wedding for Casey and Brian, who are looking to have an elegant affair that pays homage to their New England upbringing, but also celebrates their lives together in Dallas, TX. They enjoy spending time near the water so it is a priority to get married near a lake or pond. They would also like to have the ceremony and reception in the same location and preferably near an airport to make it easy for their guests from out of town.

4. You can see my mood board attached!

Chapter 1 assignment

Posted By Mercedes Fielding, Saturday, July 6, 2019

For project 1 - My couples name is Alice and Brandon and they live in San Francisco California! They wanted a wedding during the spring time at a venue that was outdoors. Alice really loves pink flowers and just pink in general. Brandon also loves flowers and plants and they both wanted a lot of them at their wedding. They wanted more of a natural feel at their wedding as both Alice and Brandon really love the earth. We got all the flowers from a local florist company called “Ava’s flowers”. The cake is a red velvet which was Brandon's biggest request, and we got the cake from “Mr. Holmes Bakehouse” in San Francisco.

Relationship Education

Posted By Chelsea Schooley Wyatt, Saturday, July 6, 2019

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/stronger-the-broken-places/201905/when-talking-isn-t-enough

I read the article When Talking is Not Enough. It briefly discusses the importance of having boundaries within a relationship. I think one key phrase is "When we lower our expectations of our partner, they will act accordingly." I personally have found this out the hard way, like I'm sure many others have. This article mentions examples of a unequal marriage and parenting roles/duties, but it doesn't even have to be specifically about a couple. Boundaries are very important in relationships with parents, children, siblings, friends, etc. I likes that it told examples of what boundaries are and what they are not. I think many people do not know the subtle differences. While this article is very short, I think many couples would benefit from this, especially if they read it multiple times over a few days or weeks, so they are able to pick out different parts of the article to focus on and gain a deeper understanding of it.

CWEP Project 2 Mood Board

Posted By Stephanie Corliss (Horne), Friday, July 5, 2019

Hello!

My name is Stephanie Corliss, I'm 28 years old, and I currently am a Resort Activities Supervisor for a timeshare resort in Orlando, Florida. I planned my own wedding, from start to finish, with many people asking me if they could help because they couldn't imagine how stressed out I had to be with doing everything myself. I enjoyed every step of the way from the vendor search, to creating my designs, and to coordinating that I never experienced the stress of the wedding planning that almost every other bride-to-be experiences. I want to embrace that passion and help all brides to feel stress free during the process and countdown to the best day of their life!

I have enjoyed learning the lengths of becoming a wedding planner and designer from this course. It has been difficult with working a 40+ hour week every week, but I have definetly pushed on to get everything I can from each chapter, project, and assignment.

With Project 2, I am presenting my planning company, "Corliss Creative Coordinating" or "CCC". I am embracing the simplistic, geometric, and clean design to my website and logo. I want clients to be able to understand clearly my contex, think it is asthetically pleasing, and get the over feeling that I enjoy the classic ideas with a modern flare.

Blog Post Taylor P.

Posted By Taylor N. Pipkin, Tuesday, July 2, 2019

My name is Taylor Pipkin, I’m twenty years old, and I’m the second child out of five in my family. I come from a chaotic household, which is one of the reasons why I am so clean and organized. Event planning has become almost second-hand nature for me, as I tend to be able to know peoples tastes and make what they want happen.

This course has helped me put to use these attributes within me, and I have found joy in planning and preparing for these practice scenarios. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and bettering my skills at this art.

The project I will be presenting is a scenario ceremony of a chic and scenic wedding. I have planned everything to the finest detail, including outfits, menu options, font of letters, and flowers as well.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Shayla Lassiter, Monday, July 1, 2019

Hi Everyone,

My name is Shayla Lassiter. I am 29 years old and currently reside in North Carolina with my husband, our 2 year old son and expecting a little girl in October. I am a licensed school counselor and work with elementary school students grades K-5.

I have chosen to take this course, as I enjoy  being a part of special moments for individuals when it comes to events and weddings. I have been searching for what my passion is and what I truly want to do for the rest of my life and one day it just hit me that I love planning events for special occasions. Being able to be apart of something so special for someone and incorporate my own creativity is something that I am passionate about. My ultimate goal is to have my own event planning business within the next couple of years after gaining further experience and developing the knowledge needed to be successful.

I am so happy that I chose to take this course. I am learning so much already and its only been a couple of days. I am so eager to finish the course and begin putting my skills and knowledge in this field.

(Project Scenario)

Lisa and John have been together for 7 years, engaged for 9 months. They are both in their early 30's and met during a friends birthday party. Lisa is Caucasian and John is African American. They have chosen to get married this upcoming spring, as they enjoy this season and the weather. They also became very serious about one another during the spring time. Lisa prefers a more subtle wedding with flowers and light colors such as light pink, while John enjoys more bold statements and pieces. The two have asked the wedding planner to help them create a wedding that brings their two different interest together while creating a beautiful and memorable event. The bride and groom are both huge food people and want their guest to enjoy delicious food via buffet. The color scheme that was chosen, is white, pink, black and hints of gold.

The mood board (see attachment) displays a blush colored tux with black trim, pink and white decor with hints of black and gold throughout (wedding cake, table runners). Flowers are also a important piece to the wedding to represent spring. Buffet style food was chosen, giving guest a variety of options to choose from.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Mary Eileen Zamor, Friday, June 28, 2019

My name is Mary Eileen. I am from Brooklyn, NY. I currently work in the quality improvement department at an insurance company. I also plan/coordinate events for myself and family/church/friends. I've been doing so since college (about 12 years now). My husband is a photographer and I decided to become certified. This can eventually become a family business.

This course thus far is amazing. I've been exposed to wedding/event planning already so it definitely has been an eye-opener as far as learning the foundation of planning. It has actually forced me to become more organized with documents/templates I will need going further to make things more official. I enjoyed working this project as it has gotten me more accustomed to working with Wix, Pinterest and Canva.

Marcus and Sarah have been together for 5 years and engaged for 6 months. They are college sweethearts. They are both Caucasian and in their late 20’s, They specifically chose a Spring Nautical Wedding theme because they began dating during the spring time and because the groom’s late grandfather, who practically raised him, was a sailor. The couple felt it was only right to combine the two ideas to create their dream wedding. The color theme will be white, navy blue and blush.

The mood board attached displays the brides A-Line wedding dress with appliqués, the grooms white tux with navy blue lapel, a nautical wedding cake, a live band, the bridal parties attire and the blush inspired reception table setup.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Sara DeLoach, Wednesday, June 26, 2019

Hi there! My name is Sara DeLoach and I live in San Diego, California. I fell in love with wedding and event planning after planning my wedding this past summer. This is a career field that I have felt called to and cannot wait to explore it more!

This wedding is for Madison and Michael. They are a military couple looking for a low-key, beautiful elopement ceremony. Madison expressed that the only thing that matters to her is the view, so I found Yosemite National Park and she fell in love. With a beautiful mountain view, Madison and Michael wanted nothing to take away from the beauty of the mountains. Therefore, they settled on black tie attire. They wish for their witnesses to wear black, and Madison desires an elegant white dress with long sleeves. To keep the simplicity, Madison chose white flowers with lots of greenery. Since the couple is still young and love to have a good time, they request to celebrate with beer and donuts while admiring the views. Once they have settled into their new married life, they plan on sending out elopement announcements to their friends and family whom couldn't attend.

Posted By Danielle Fortner, Wednesday, June 26, 2019

My name is Danielle and I am from Spring Hill, TN. Before I got into wedding coordinating I worked as admin in an office for a roofing company. I hope to build up a solid wedding coordinating business in my area so that I can be home more with my daughter.

My experience with the course so far has been positive. I am learning a lot and am looking forward to using what I have learned with my clients. I absolutely love the webinars I think they provide great information.

For project 1 I showcased a rustic garden themed wedding. The color scheme was blush pink and white. And the décor was designed to give off a romantic feel.

CWEP-1

Posted By Monisha Ghuman, Tuesday, June 25, 2019
For Project -1, I decided to choose Rustic Amish theme yet add a soft eclectic feel to Stephanie’s and Vikram’s wedding next year on August 12,2020.

The bride Stephanie and the groom Vikram’s  childhood had been on a rustic farm where they lived in 2 different parts of the world  in a small rustic house and both learned to churn butter, bake bread, and store provisions for winter and lived in .Though they were born and raised  in two different parts of the world , Stephanie being born and raised in Oklahoma , United States and Vikram being born and raised in Punjab, India, yet they both shared common ethics and strong family values.  Because of their rustic farm background I thought of depicting picturesque rustic scenes as a part of their rustic theme wedding. I decided to use white and orange lilies where white signifies the epitome of beauty, devotion, new beginnings and orange signifies passion
The main color scheme of this wedding is rust, ivory , orange , brick color which would be found not only in the attire of the bridesmaids, flower girls , bride’s gown, grooms’s attire, bride’s bouquet boutonnières, corsages, floral arrangements, arch gate/backdrops but also in the tulle fabric that will be used to drape the walls and ceilings with string lights woven into the drapes. In order to enhance the rustic setting, I thought of using red petals with ivory satin aisle runner. Envisioned the bride walking the aisle  on the red petals. To add to the mood of the wedding ceremony, I decided to have 2 band artists playing saxophone and piano in the background as each ceremony progresses. After the final ceremony is over, and as the bride and the groom walk back down the aisle as husband and wife there will be the tossing of rice on a newly married couple. The tossing of rice on a newly married couple symbolizes fertility, both for the couple and their crops.
For the guest tables I decided to use mason jars as the centerpieces with baby breath flowers and LED candles. All the centerpieces on the guest tables will be placed on top of the round wooden logs cut & customized per the table size. There will be a wine cork place card holder on each guest table. The head table would have mason jar settings much bigger in size with elaborate floral arrangements , extra leafy accents and eucalyptus greenery. Lighting on top of the head table will include small round hanging orbs, iron  lanterns with soft LED lights and  bulbs. The 3-tier wedding cake will stand on a customized round wooden log engraved with the bride’s and groom’s initials,  enveloped with baby’s breath and tea candles. The champagne toasting glasses will be monogrammed with the bride’s and the groom’s names along with the wedding month/day/year. Continuing with the rustic setting, I chose unusual containers such as milk pails , crates, reclaimed wood barrels , wooden and chalk sign boards , wooden isle and tin cans to blend with my floral setting. To add a soft eclectic feel to the wedding , I decided on a music band which will play the mix of country, hip hop, swing  techno, classical along with the 80’s & 90’s rock. To add to the continuity of the Rustic and Amish theme, I decided to use vintage cars for the bride’s and the groom’s parents arrival, 1939 Rolls Royce for the brides’s and the bridesmaids arrival and a vintage bus for all the guests arrival to the wedding ceremony venue. And after the wedding ceremony is over, the bride and the groom will ride in a horse driven Amish carriage from the wedding ceremony to the reception banquet hall. There will be a bubble and white LED light up balloons send off before the Bride and the Groom hop into their 1959 white Porsche  and step on the plane got their cozy honeymoon  to Antigua basking in the sun on a beautiful private beach at Coco Bay resort .

Posted By Laurel Barber, Tuesday, June 25, 2019

Hi, My name is Laurel Barber, from Gainesville, Florida. I have been always been the friend to plan the parties and events, and I finally decided to turn my passion into my paycheck.

My couple is a couple in their early 30's who met at an adoption event for dogs in need of a home. They both wanted the same dog, and the gentleman let her have the dog, as long as she gave her number and let him visit. :) They fell in love over their mutual love of animals, tattoos, and rock music. For their wedding they want to mix class with a touch of edge!

Hi, I am Farah Siddiqui and I am originally from Pakistan, currently enjoying this amazing certification course in Dallas.

By profession I am a Textile Designer and had privilege to work with some HI-end fashion houses back home . Also I have some experience of event planning as I have shadowed designers in their fashion/launch events.

My CWEP project 1 is about a young, vibrant yet traditional couple, who are high school sweet hearts. They come from a huge family background -traced back to the royals of subcontinent- and have their values and heart, deeply rooted with their traditions and culture.

After "she said YES!", the couple and their families are planning a grand wedding ,which will reflect their royal back ground and love for their traditions and culture. The theme will be "A Royal Affair".
