Project 1: Plan a Social Event or Wedding

Posted By Kimberly A. Gainey, Sunday, December 29, 2019

My name is  Kimberly Gainey and reside in North Carolina. I am currently a Branch Manager in the financial industry. I am looking forward to building my business as a wedding and event planner. I enjoyed providing support and advice to family, friends, coworkers and church members as they looked forward to their special occasions. I am now building my foundation to be able to provide advice, support, manage and execute my services as a professional wedding and event planner.

This course has provided me with tools and resources that opened my eyes to the intricate details that leads to a successful professional planner. Being able to complete this course online offered me the option to continue my full-time employment and learn new organizational and technical skills. Time management was probably my biggest hurdle.

In this project I am introducing a beautiful couple as they prepare for their joyous day. Ann and Efrin began their journey as friends as technicians at PCA International. Both of them have 2 children from previous relationships. They supported each other through career changes. Ann pursed the financial industry as well as her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. Efrin pursed the service industry and open a transportation service. Efrin was previously a basketball coach for middle and high school students. Ann enjoyed ballet and pole dancing as a means of fitness.

The couple selected to have their wedding in the fall. They chose October to honor Ann’s mother’s birthday, which was in the same month. The color scheme is marsala, medium grey and white. Their wedding is simple and elegant with bold statement pieces such as Ann wearing ballet slippers and Erin’s attire will be a soft linen. The décor is filled with soft florals and elegant glass designs. The most important party of this day for Ann and Efrin is celebrating with family and special guests. There are a few surprises incorporated; hint: ballet slippers; and a signature family dance. The buffet dinner is a few of the couple’s favorites such as spinach stuffed salmon and Greek salad. The couple was able to save quite a bit on their wedding through gifts from family such as Ann’s cousin, the DJ providing his services for free as a wedding gift. I am so honored and humbled to support and participate in this loving celebration.

Project 1: Plan a Social Event or Wedding

Posted By Eboni Davis, Saturday, December 28, 2019

My name is Eboni Davis. I am 31 years old and live in Chicago, IL. I have been planning and hosting events for about 4 years and finally decided last year in June to start my own business J.N.E. LLC. My sorority sister and now event planning mentor told me to that this course because of how much it helped her in her Wedding Planning business. My goal of investing in this course is to give me a broader insight and understanding of the industry to help grow and promote by business. Until my business grows into a full time income for now I am in the US Army Reserves and work full time at a military academy.

So far the course has enlightened me on so many things regarding the wedding and event planning business. I was shocked to find out that this business would even need to use CAD design. There is so much more than many people believe of just hanging decorations. This project came right at a convenient time for me because I am in the process of planning a social event, a 50th birthday celebration. I will be presenting this entire project to my client for approval in moving forward with their event.

My project is a for a 50th birthday celebration. The theme was derived from asking questions from a client questionnaire to find out the clients interests. From finding out detailed information about the client. I feel this will truly be a custom event that will be enjoyed by all. Through personal connections I have already fostered over the years. I have an ample selection of vendors needed to carry out this event exceptionally.

Project 1: Mood Board

Posted By Gabrielle Carter, Wednesday, December 25, 2019

I’m Gabrielle. I graduated from Radford University with a B.S. in Design Management with minors in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing. I have a passion for traveling, fashion, and event design. I decided to take the CWEP course to have better knowledge of event planning and design and prepare myself to start my own business and brand.

Project 1 – Mood Board

This bride and groom grew up together and share passion for food, travel, and adventure. For ceremony the couple wanted a romantic and sultry style. Weathered buildings, greenery, and falls deep colors are inspiration for this ceremony and reception. To add a personal touch, at the reception the guest will go home with little favors that express some of the bride and grooms’ favorite drinks and treats.

History of Bridal Fashion Final Projects

Posted By Sarah D. Steiger, Monday, December 23, 2019

Hi my name is Sarah. I'm from Medford, Oregon. I currently do daycare with my mother in law out of my home. I am also starting school for Esthetics in January. I'm hoping to incorporate the things I learn into my bridal/wedding planning packages. I actually had a hard time getting through this course and assignment honestly. I'm not a very big history fan so it took a bit for me to get into and enjoy it.

This is my final project for HBF. I  presented an inspired 25th anniversary party and a themed charity event. My favorites were the Roman and Medieval/Renaissance times so those are the ideas that I used. I have added my mood boards for both :)

Grand Opening- Unforgettable Events

Posted By Chandler Payne, Friday, December 20, 2019

Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Chandler Payne and I was born and raised in beautiful San Diego, California. I am a Certified Wedding and Event Coordinator which simply means I’ve taken classes to improve my skills in the industry. I started event planning because I always found myself trying to organize and manage parties that I was attending rather than just being a guest. I wanted to be in control of the happenings because I felt like I could organize them better and make sure that everyone had a great time.

The mission for my company is to create unforgettable events with ease. I provide my clients with the best possible service by surrounding myself with reputable vendors and teams that I trust. No detail will be left unturned and my clients will enjoy their events with a smile on their face and never know any "disasters" happen because my team will take care of them quickly and quietly.

My background in musical theatre management and being an event planner for a middle school gives me an edge even though I am new to the wedding planning scene. These backgrounds have provided me extra skills in staying in budget for large scale events while still having a “wow” factor.

I look forward to planning your Unforgettable Event!

Project 2

Posted By Shannon Davidson, Friday, December 20, 2019

Hello, my name is Shannon Davidson and I’ve always had a niche for photography and event planning. I currently am working with Mosaic Catering and Events, which also happens to be Richmond, Virginia’s #1 catering service this year and for the past few years. My experience in the course has been great so far and I feel like I learned about so much important little rules and guidelines that I wouldn’t have known anywhere else. There are also so many resources to help along the way.

For my project, I decided to take advantage of my photography skills and offer both services, and cross-service packages. I have also learned how important it is to build and maintain a brand so, I thought offering multiple services(and more to come in the future) would help with that.

Hi I’m Lacey! Join me for my grand opening Pick N Sip launch party for my business Sugarplum Fairy Events on September 5, 2020 at Westmoreland Berry Farm from 12pm to 5pm. My mission for my business is to create magic for people so they can make unforgettable memories and to share my magic with others so they can go create their own.

Through this whole class I’ve learned so much especially from my awesome instructor who has continued to encourage and support me every step of the way. I’m excited to take what I’ve learned and apply it to my business.

My grand opening launch party is at a farm since it’s in the fall so there’s a rustic theme to it with lots of pumpkins. The main colors are red, yellow, and orange. There’s going to be lots of food, music, and fun activities for everyone. I hope everyone enjoys my party!

Travis and Trudy-A Journey In Love

Posted By Elorne Duncan, Tuesday, December 17, 2019
Updated: Tuesday, December 17, 2019

I am Elorne Duncan, I am from the beautiful twin Island State Trinidad and Tobago.  We are located just 7 miles off the coast of Venezuela.  I am an event professional with over 15 years experience in the business.  I have work for Mr Brian Mac Farlane a celebrated event producer and designer in Trinidad and Tobago, I have done work for HRH Duke of Edinburgh on his visit to Grenada and I have worked for the top event company in Grenada for the past 2 years.  I am currently back home working with one of the best event companies in Trinidad and Tobago, managing large Carnival type events.  My aspirations would be to become as well know for amazing work like Preston Bailey and David Tutera. I would one day like to meet them and just sit and have a conversation with them, to gain more inspiration on developing my skills and my company.  I hope to launch off in the next year or two, doing my own thing and bringing dreams to life.

Below is just a taste of my work and the understanding of my project.

Trudy and Travis, their love is sufficient unto love. Travis and Trudy met in the inviting turquoise waters of Tobago. This was an unassuming conversation that turned into courting, then a bundle of joy and then an happily ever after. Travis and Trudy, are a modern day Caribbean couple. They have sophisticated taste but a willingness to have touches and elements, they grew up with. They are fun and flirty!

This wedding will be held on the island where they met, Tobago. It was important to make pilgrimage to the place where their love story began. It only seems fitting. Trudy wanted to make sure that the beach played a part in their union and Travis agreed. The wedding is a sophisticated beach wedding with touches of Trinbago and Guyana. In speaking with them, they wanted their guests to feel welcomed and at home. Therefore Blue (shades of blue) was chosen for their colour. The design of this wedding was keeping in sync with the couple's choices. My design aesthetic is very minimalist and modern, I married the wants and needs of the couple with the current trends for weddings of this style. Recommendations were made with respect to the couple's styling for their special day and this was well received as the couple is a very fashion sensible. Working with this couple was a dream, as Trudy had what she wanted sorted and Travis understood his role, "just say yes hunnie!"

In closing, this wedding event was filled with love and using the A8 formula really assisted me in understanding the elements that goes into making an event a special occasion, not only for weddings but for all types of events. The A8 formula doesn't create events but experiences. Travis and Trudy's wedding was one that was filled with love and intimacy. The couple was very pleased with my work and I am grateful that they gave me the chance to showcase my skills. This journey was one well spent.

Mood Board

Posted By Loreana Taner, Tuesday, December 17, 2019
Updated: Tuesday, December 17, 2019

I am posting my assignment from Chapter 6 of the Party Planning 101 course, as I am taking it separately. Please let me know what you think!

I am planning a dinner party at my home to celebrate my sister's engagement with 20 of her closest friends. I want this day to be special and reflect our family, so the theme is Italian rustic. My grandmother had a huge, beautiful tree in her front yard in Italy, that my sister and I used to play on all the time, so I will incorporate tree elements into the décor, specifically the invitations, the centerpiece, and the entryway.

The color scheme will be light blues and bright white, which always reminds me of the Amalfi Coast, close to where my family is from. I will mostly incorporate the blue tones in the dinner napkins, but it will also be present in the florals and the invitations. The tablescape will also feature natural wood chargers and bare wood candelabras, to bring out the natural elements of a rustic Italian dinner and will also compliment the tree theme.

The menu will feature rustic Italian cuisine and each course will be paired with an Italian wine. Our family loves wine, so I will make sure to feature wines that may not typically be from the Italy. For the "amusement" category, dessert will feature a professional barista to make hand-crafted coffees. My sister LOVES coffee and it will be a fun way to include the guests in one of her favorite things!

The salmon dinner included here would not be part of the engagement party but am including my pairings here in case it is required for the final!

I am excited to use my new skills to create a wonderful, fun day for my sister and her future husband. I know she will appreciate that I focused the entire day around her and our family.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Kayla N. Rickner (Bickell), Monday, December 9, 2019
For this assignment, I put together a mood board for an early 30's couple that is planning a Napa Valley wedding. Wanting to blend the sophistication of Italy to the comfort of their California home, I looked for images that paired elegant with familiar. For example, a wine and cheese hors d'oeuvres buffet style, or gold-trimmed wine glasses placed alongside wooden plates.

Project 3

Posted By Vanessa Cowles, Sunday, December 8, 2019

Vanessa Cowles will be launching an event design house in Richmond, Va on June 28, 2020. She recently completed an event planning certification from LWPI at VCU. This will event will cater to both vendors and guests in search of event design help. During the event La Bella team and Vanessa will work the room to provide guests with questionnaires and to engage vendors interested in building relationships and curating preferred vendor lists.

The grand opening will allow all guests to intimately know what drives the business, our connection to the community and commitment to creativity and event perfection. We don't just plan and coordinate events, we design based on our clients unique interests. Guests will also see a live portfolio, where there will be small demonstrations of the design process and mock ups of event decor. Light brunch will be served, and there will be a mimosa bar with other light refreshment options for our guests. Girls For a Change spokesperson will be present to share their cause and how the community can be further involved with the organization.

Project 3 was my favorite of them all. I am a major believer in manifesting our goals and this was an exercise on doing just that. I've learned so much during this term. The wealth of information shared by my instructor has been invaluable and my growth in inudustry knowledge is quite measurable. This course has been much more comprehensive than expected. The description just doesn't do it justice. Cant wait to showcase all that I've learned to my future mentors, peers, and clients.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Michelle Zayas, Thursday, December 5, 2019

Hello All, My name is Michelle Zayas, from Newport News, VA or better known as Hampton Roads, VA. I am currently a Registered Nurse and I work in getting patients ready for surgery and help them right after surgery. I love my current career, but I need something to do that doesn't involve sickness. I want to breath in new life experiences and help clients create memories they will cherish for a lifetime. I plan to start event planning part-time and see where it leads me.

I am novice to wedding and event planning. I have only planned my own wedding and helped with family events and some social events. This portion of the coarse has been great, looking up photos and creating a mood board. The Ideas were based on my best friend, who has not had a wedding but married by justice of the peace. We spend so many hours talking about what she would love to have, that in my mind it is already created down to every detail.

For this blog, I am presenting a fall wedding in Virginia. Our weather can very from 70's on the coast to 40's degrees in the mountains. It's an outdoor event from the wedding to the reception. The theme is outdoor rustic. Every detail has a woodsy characteristic with colors of greenery and wheat.

Updated: Wednesday, December 4, 2019

Lesly Reyes to offer wedding and event planning services as part of her professional event planning company. Manassas, VA-May 15, 2020-Lesly Reyes, a certified professional wedding planner to host her grand opening and launch of her business. She will offer engaged couples a thirty-minute complimentary consultation to meet and see how she can assist them in their wedding planning process.

I am in awe with everything I have learned through this course. After all the assignments and projects EventsLVR is born. I did not image when signing up for this course that by the end of it I would have the tools necessary to go out and start my own business. I am thankful for my instructor Ms. Pearlice who has believed in my abilities to be an exceptional and successful wedding planner.

For our grand opening, we want our guest to see, touch, feel and hear what their guest can experience when they allow EventsLVR to plan their event. This is the one moment, the first impression so we had to have all the bells and whistles. We will have cocktails and delicious shot glass foods. Local vendors will be showcasing their talents and we will host a small bridal fashion show. A wine pull will be held and all the proceeds will go towards The Breast Cancer Research Foundation which is very dear to my heart.

My name is Heather Kirby and I'm from Richmond, Virginia. I'm the event coordinator for The Veil Brewing Co. and we would like to add professional wedding planning to the services we offer. I've enjoyed this class; it's very thorough and informative.  I do think the curriculum could be laid out in a more approachable way and spread out more evenly.

Project 1 overview:  Planning a wedding for a couple who met in Vermont and who are getting married in New York City. Their wedding is high end, moody and with specific taste and budget.  Here is their mood board which gives direction towards their preferences for mood, lighting, texture, feel.
