Project #2

Posted By Maggie Robistow, Thursday, February 6, 2020
My name is Maggie, I am almost completed the wedding and event planning certification. I love how much of a creative and fun platform this career choice is. It takes a lot of dedication, organization, and passion. I have the qualities of what it takes to become a wedding planner, but I always want to grow and know that there is always room for improvement. I created my mood board for project two focusing on what I would want to see a wedding look like. This will change depending on the bride. I have no experience other than this course, but my mother is very creative and I believe I got that from her. I wanted to have a platform where I could be creative and also make a career out of it. I am proud of how far I have come in life, and to be able to say I am completed my associates degree, working on my bachelors in Psychology with a minor in philosophy, and now to be so close to completed the wedding planning certification gives me so much motivation to push myself further in my career.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Brianna Gesler, Thursday, February 6, 2020

My name is Bri Gesler, I am currently a Wedding Sales Manager at a full service hotel in Rochester, NY. I have been in this particular role just over one year, but have worked in the wedding industry, in various positions, for about 5 years. This certification and course work is helping to expand my knowledge and practices as someone already in the field, and will allow me to differentiate myself from my competitors. I think it will also help to solidify the relationships I continue to make with clients--knowing that they are in good hands with an experienced, well-educated professional.

My experience thus far has been wonderful. I have learned some new things and have refreshed my knowledge and skills on things I learned when I first began my journey in the wedding world. I'm finding new tools and tricks to incorporate in my career and enhance the experiences I have with my clients. This project in particular helped to reiterate the detailing process when planning a wedding and helped me to realize how important it is to be thorough, ask questions, and get to know your clients on a more personal level to understand them, as well as their wants and needs. This will help me better be able to communicate to my team and execute my clients' events to their expectations.

This project was enjoyable for me because I was able to look at some of my real life personal and professional experiences to build up the characters, their connection, and their wedding day. Taking anecdotes from the world right around me helped make this project come together seamlessly. I utilized local colleges (one of which I attended!), existing vendors I know from working with them in the industry, and my own personal design touches to bring Janey and Alec's story together in a way that made sense from beginning to end.

CWEP Project 3

Posted By Latasha Fields, Wednesday, February 5, 2020

After three years of event planning learning the ins and outs of the business, we are happy to announce our official grand opening. We have decided to kick off our celebration at Leonard’s Palazzo, a reputable vendor with years of expertise. We have promoted this special event on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, MunaLuchi Bride magazine, and the local newspapers. In addition, we have posted, via business website, as well as our Wedding Wire and The Knot storefronts. People from various places will join in on the celebration enjoying hor devours, a passion fruit signature cocktail, and a listen to the smooth jams from the Shaded Soul Live Band.

As we prepare to embark on this most special occasion I would be remiss, if I did not shout out Lovegevity for it’s informative training. They provided the professional development skills to serve my clients. Now, my network and marketing strategies are stronger and more intentional. My goal is to target Millennial couples seeking a thought partner and day-of-coordinator to bring their vision to reality. The L Prestigious Events Mission is to ensure that every event is memorable for clients and their guests. Clients all receive first-class customer service from beginning to end. We pride ourselves on executing seamless events.

As the events continue and guests hear more about the services L Prestigious Events offers, there will be a raffle drawing every 30 minutes from invited vendors. Gifts are all free ranging from floral to the actual wedding cake.  Also, limousine discounts will be given and discounted pricing if booking at the host location Leonard’s Palazzo within three months of this event.

I hope you enjoy it!

Good Evening. My name is Malissa. I recently decided to pursue a career in Event Planning and utilize the skill I have acquired in the last 25+ years in the service industry. I have held positions from a GM of a restaurant, mobile vending startup, director of sales & marketing for a venue, to all aspects of catering big & small. So I decided, what better way to showcase my skills and love for customer service, so here I am.

Below you will see my attached board for a rustic barn wedding. My husband who is a chef and I have always dreamed of owning our own venue space and pursuing our life goal to host unforgettable events in a rustic barn setting. We have all the plans and many ideas, just need to pull the trigger. But before I can do that, I need to really understand all I can about event planning first.

I love everything about the below photos. It shows how beautiful a venue can be will a little work and a lot of passion. My favorite colors are blues and burgundy and prefer a fall wedding.

Assignment 1.3

Posted By Kayla Marie Looper, Wednesday, February 5, 2020
Updated: Wednesday, February 5, 2020

Hello! My name is Kayla Looper, and I am from Celina, TX. I am currently a High School English teacher, and while I love it, I feel that I have been called to help create events that are beautiful and timeless.

About five years ago, I planned my sister's wedding and that is what planted the seed for my dream. I quickly realized that I loved having an outlet for my creative side. Fast forward to 2019 when one of my duties for the year at work was to plan Prom. Let me tell you, I loved EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of it! I quickly realized that I could plan events every day for the rest of my life and fill totally fulfilled and excited. I feel like getting certified is the first step to creating my dream career.

My mood board was inspired by a couple in their early 30s who have a love for the simple things in life. They wanted a neutral color pallet and pampas grass. They went on a vacation early on in their relationship to Santa Barbara, CA, and while on the beach surrounded by pampas grass, they first said: "I love you." The couple expressed a desire to use one of their most cherished memories as the inspiration for their wedding.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Josie Guignon, Tuesday, February 4, 2020
Hi my name is Josie Guignon, I am currently a STAHM and decided that although I love being a STAHM I needed to pursue my dreams.  So here I am!  I fell in love with wedding planning when I took on planning my own wedding.  Staying in budget was a thrill and calling around pricing out vendors and getting things together was just exhilarating.  But the best part of all was watching all my plans and hard work come together!  I knew from that point on that I would LOVE to pursue this as a career and eventually own my own venue as well.  I have attached this beautiful fall wedding inspired project.  My wedding was supposed to be a fall wedding but due to my pregnancy we had to move our date up making it a summer wedding. Everything worked out amazingly.  But I still LOVE fall weddings.

CWEP Project 1 Mood Board

Posted By Olivia Porter, Monday, February 3, 2020
Hi, my name is Olivia. I have always wanted to be a wedding planner and am so excited to finally start this program. I'm one step closer to my dream career. This assignment, quizzes, and the readings I've done so far have really helped enhance my knowledge on the wedding and event industry, as well as further solidified some knowledge I've gained in my past college courses and internships. I loved this mood board assignment because it allowed me to utilize my creativity and put my thoughts and ideas into one board. I use pinterest a lot but I love that I've gotten the chance to create a special pinterest account for my business. I also didn't know about canva.com and am actually really excited to use that program for a lot of different things regarding my wedding planning business. This class is exactly what I needed to get started fulfilling my wedding planning career.

For my mood board, I chose a Tiffany & Co. wedding theme with white accents. This board was inspired by a fictional character from one of the books I wrote. Kate is elegant and an absolute perfectionist, and I feel this wedding theme with its crisp lines and pop of elegant color holds true to her ideals, as well as, those of Tiffany & Co. This wedding theme could work for any time of year, though I see it as a spring or summer wedding. Each picture represents one of the 8 A's and allows future brides to get an idea of what their vision in this style of wedding could look like in terms of design.

CWEP Project - Plan a Wedding

Posted By Vetra Wolford, Sunday, February 2, 2020

Hello my is Vetra, I’m originally from the East Coast (Washington D.C./suburbs). I coast swapped about 7 years ago and now happily reside in sunny Los Angeles, CA. I am a represented voice actor and I also freelance within the apparel and fashion industry as a product designer and textile sourcer. I’m fortunate enough to mostly work from home; working in a home recording studio (my projects consist of commercials, various animation soundbites, online media/instruction videos, and audiobooks. Before I could afford my home recording studio I use to have to visit studios across town, this is a dreadful undertaking in L.A. traffic! Fortunately, I now connect from home and this frees up many many hours to spend with my teenage son who also works in the entertainment industry…. There is one big negative working from a 7’ X 9’ soundproof-isolation booth, unless I happen to have an outside studio audition or recording — I’m all day in solitary confinement. ‘I miss working with people’…. So, for sometime now I’ve been diligently researching on what else I could pursue. Again, I love-love-love working in VO and I don’t plan to exit 100%, it just may end up being a 40-60% split.

A few months ago via Google I looked into 'home business start-up ideas' and I came across 'wedding and event planning'. A lightbulb flicked on. I have a little experience, as I have planned and coordinated many events in the past, planned and hosted holiday celebrations and other various themed parties, and in business I have planned collection showcasing and fashion shows, and years ago I participated in two pretty big community fundraisers. I remembered that I really enjoyed the process and the work was fun to me!… More recently, I eventually stumbled across a ‘Lovegevity’ video, and I had what Oprah calls a “A-HA” moment! :) I knew that this was something that I could really put my heart and creativity into and totally enjoy doing it! So here I am, happily taking the CWEP college course at the University of La Verne, in La Verne, CA led by an extremely talented wedding and event planner extraordinaire, 'Rebecca Calagna’ — she's an inspiration!

Though it has been very hard for me to keep up on the coursework and project submissions (my schedule is currently nuts this time of year!) Making this part of project 1, was really inspiring and only reinforced my passion for wanting to be of service one day to clients in need — helping them create lasting memories, and also to have a passionate career where I can share with my clients a form of artistry!

My faux-couple are a very busy professional couple, they both work in the corporate world (age 37-40). They had been planning their wedding for some time now (over a year), and just wanted someone/a planner that could help manage the chaos. They chose the colors of turquoise, pearl, and gold and wanted an elegant-classy look.

CWEP Project 3

Posted By Gabrielle Carter, Saturday, February 1, 2020

I have learned a great deal on wedding planning and event design in this program. This course has pushed me to think about what I want for my own business and how I can get the most out of my community. the assignments are great to help build the framework and foundation for your business. I did take this course online, however, I recommend taking it in person. I did feel like I lacked the student to instructor relationship and understanding by doing everything online. Over all I did enjoy the course and hope in the future there will be more tailored certification courses for social and life celebration event planning.

Project 3 has been the most informative assignment as it really opened my eyes to understanding the amount of work that goes into starting a business. I found that the answers I thought I had for myself in what I wanted my brand to be and to promote have changed over the course of this program for the better.

As I am just starting out in the event planning industry as a professional my current goals are to gain all the hands on learning experience I can from event planner in my local area so that I can learn to find my “niche” in the industry and really understand the market around me.

After gaining experience, in the near future I will officially launch my event planning business that focuses on making unique and memorable moments.

CWEP ROJECT 1 VISION BOARD

Posted By Vetra Wolford, Friday, January 31, 2020
Updated: Saturday, February 1, 2020

CWEP Project 1 // Vision/Mood Board // Introduction & Background/Blog

Hello my is Vetra, I’m originally from the East Coast (Washington D.C./suburbs). I coast swapped about 7 years ago and now happily reside in Los Angeles, CA. I currently work in the entertainment industry as a voice over artist and also work part-time as a freelance apparel designer and textile sourcer.

A few months ago via Googling around, I randomly came across a blog about 'starting a new career working from home'. I looked into the many 'home business start-up ideas' and I came across 'wedding and event planning'. It was interesting to me as I have planned and helped coordinate, decorated, and have even catered many family and close friends parties and events in the past. Many private events that I have participated in had 100+ guest and in business I have planned collection showcasing and fashion shows and participated in a few pretty big fundraisers with over 450+ attendees/guest... Looking back, I can recall that I really enjoyed the process and the work was always fun to me. I never imagined that this could be a career opportunity. For weeks I continued with this interest and while online researching I eventually stumbled across a ‘Lovegevity’ video and I had what you call a “A-HA” moment - it was magical!... I knew that this was something that I could really put my heart and creativity into and totally enjoy doing it! So here I am, happily taking the CWEP college course at the University of La Verne, in La Verne, CA led by an extremely talented wedding and event planner extraordinaire, 'Rebecca Calagna' -- she's an inspiration! -- (not looking for brownie points, its the truth;)

Though it has been very hard for me to keep up on the coursework and project submissions (my schedule is currently nuts this time of year!) Making this board was really inspiring and only reinforced my passion for wanting to be of service one day to clients in need, helping them create lasting memories, and also to have a passionate career where I can share with my clients a form of artistry! I truly want to absorb all the knowledge that I can and take advantage of the many great resources available with becoming a Lovegevity-Alumni. I plan to intern after completion of this first course and will most definitely take the 'event design' course as soon as my schedule allows.

Now to business -- Mood Board: My faux-couple chose to go with a more simple style of ’tranquil-elegance’, a color theme of dusty and pastel turquoise, pearled ivory, with rich gold table settings and decor. // My clients wanted a sophisticated style of sensuous-richness with a color combo of various shades of turquoise paired flawlessly with gold. // Yes it’s a little trendy, but it is also ‘timeless and elegant’ and most importantly it is what my clients desired :) // The wedding and reception will take place at a private and very 'luxe' venue that overlooks the beautiful coastline in the Pacific Palisades, just north of Santa Monica.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Sara Jongeneel, Thursday, January 30, 2020
Updated: Friday, January 31, 2020

Hello! My name is Sara, and I reside in Maryland. Though I currently work at a small marketing firm, I previously worked as a special events coordinator for various nonprofit organizations for a few years before pursuing the industry as a freelance event planner and florist. My ultimate goal is to start my own wedding and special event planning business that also offers floral design.

I am having so much fun in this course! I have already learned so much, and I am excited to continue building the foundations of my business with the knowledge I am receiving from the course. The course does a nice job of highlighting everything there is to know about the wedding industry and how to plan such a life-changing event. Although I am already an avid Pinterest and Canva user, the project allowed me to understand both of them to a greater capacity. It is an interesting idea to use Canva as a template for mood boards; I will be utilizing that much more often in my profession.

My mood board highlights a romantic spring countryside wedding and is inspired by a close acquaintance as she begins planning her own wedding. I wanted to craft a mood board that will showcase a bright and airy atmosphere with a neutral color palette filled with fresh greenery and touches of blush pink. In my mood board, I present a wedding that combines fresh florals and a touch of vintage countryside among a garden-like landscape, perfect for spring.

Honeybook

Posted By Gabrielle Carter, Thursday, January 30, 2020

I really enjoyed the Rising Tide Society interview. I absolutely love the foundation the Rising Tide Society is built on. As entrepreneurs I think well all have that fear of not wanting to take the necessary risks in investing in ourselves to pursue our passions. As students we're taught to always focus on setting yourself apart from your competition and what you can provide that another business couldn't. It can be discouraging not know where to start or who to talk to and more often than not your instincts would be to reach out to another person or business who is already established in the industry of interest for guidance on how to peruse your own goals. Eventually they could turn out to be your competition.

To create a community of support for people to overcome that very issue and to be successful at doing so just proves that there is plenty of growth and opportunity for everyone and not coming together or helping someone else does not hinder the success of that business or person.

CWEP Project 1 Vision Board

Posted By Ashley Miller, Thursday, January 30, 2020

Hello! My name is Ash, currently living in Riverside, CA. I recently started this course, and it already feels like I'm not "working" but EXPERIENCING my dream. I previously worked as a corporate event planner and loved the fulfillment it brought me...and then when I attended my first bridal show, I knew this was it. I found my "nitch." I'm going to be your next Wedding Planner in Socal!

Living in California, it's a very diverse state and the "Perfect Day" is shared amongst people of every walk of life. You will see Bi-racial, Multi-Cultural, Members of LGBT+, and many other couples who are celebrating their love with their friends & family. For my board, I wanted to portray that diversity and follow with subtle colors of white, purple and just a hint of green. I chose an outdoor greenery-setting with a naturally vibrant display of flowers as shown on the cake, bouquet, and table-top. I used white as the main display to keep the vibe classy and clean.

Tell me what you think in the comments!

Assignment 1.3 Vision Board

Posted By Cierra Pena, Tuesday, January 28, 2020
Updated: Tuesday, January 28, 2020

Hello!

My name is Cierra! I am Texas raised living in Houston, Tx. I am currently in the corporate IT Sales working a 8-5 job. I recently fell in love with the wedding planning industry after helping my aunt plan her wedding and now my own. I have decided to take a leap of faith and continue to educate myself in an industry that I am extremely passionate for. I eventually want to start my own event planning with my aunt that I have grown up with since we were little girls.

I have recently started this course and I am enjoying it so far! It's almost like I'm reading/doing assignments that I absolutely enjoy doing. I'm excited to learn about the wedding/planning industry moving forward.

For my first mood board assignment I have decided to go with a couple that I have known since I was 13. Stephanie and Matt recently got engaged, shortly after they found out she was pregnant so they have decided to have their wedding at the end of March which is giving them about 2 months to plan (I am helping them out). She is going for a very simple wedding with a color scheme of greenery, white, and gold. Her bridesmaids will all be in simple black dresses while the groomsmen will be in black suits. She wants the main flower to be a white rose with greenery incorporated. However, due to staying within the budget we will include an additional white flower as a filler to make the floral pricing more affordable. The wedding will be an outside wedding with a backdrop of the hill country (a whole lot of green trees). With a romantic grand exit of bubbles to celebrate the NewlyWeds!

Create Moments Just B-Cuz is officially launching. They are having their Grand Opening for their York PA office. The office is one of the two that will launch within the next 6 months. The company will be in York, PA and Baltimore, MD. The Grand Opening will be held on February 29, 2020 at The Bond Events. The address is 134 E. King Street York, Pennsylvania 17401. The event will be held from 3:00pm-7:00pm.

My experience with this course has been a great one; it taught me a lot about the ins and outs of planning. This project allowed me to really think about how I would launch my business and what I would want it to look like. The project really allowed me to use my creativity.

The colors for my business are yellow, black and white. Everything designed for the grand opening will be in those colors. The setup will allow people to see what we offer as planners and coordinators.

CWEP Project 2

Updated: Sunday, January 26, 2020

Maddy ́s Forever & Always Weddings was founded in January 2020 through a passion for love and individuality. It will be based in Portland, Oregon. However, since I am not planning on starting my business right away, this project was a little overwhelming and time-consuming. I believe that if you are ready to start your own business right after completing the certification, it is perfect because then you already have all your packages and materials for your business in order to start right away.

For this project I created an imaginary business called “Maddy´s Forever & Always Weddings”. The business focuses on uniqueness, since every person and every relationship have their own story to tell that should not be overlooked when planning an event. Maddy´s Forever & Always Weddings wants to be there for couples every step of the beginning of their love journey, starting with the proposal and ending with the honeymoon. In this project, I created a welcome package that can be given to new clients, including an introduction of who we are as a business, the packages we provide, client questionnaires to help plan the perfect event, a day-of service contract, local marriage license requirements, information on civil ceremonies, a wedding party checklist, and a list of preferred vendors.

I would have liked more instruction on how to write a contract, since I had never written one before and the textbook did not provide quite enough information. Even though the project was very time-consuming, I did enjoy creating a professional-looking package that could be used if I were to start my own business.

Relationship Education: An Anidote to Anxiety

Posted By Anna Heminokeky, Saturday, January 25, 2020

Hi, I am Anna Heminokeky! I chose to review the acrticle An Antidote to Anxiety by Linda Bloom. I personally have dealt with anxiety my whole life. Two months ago, I took it upon myself to set an appointment up with a local counselor. This was the best decision I have made for myself! In the article, Linda states "They [Individuals with anxiety] project an image to the world that they are confident, hiding their anxiety in shame." I take part in counceling today. However, my family and friends were not aware I have struggled with anxiety to the point of needing help.

I am now open with the people around me and as the article reads, "The common denominator is that we all long for love." My advice to anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, or whatever it may be is be open with those close to you. I felt as though it was a burden to put on my friends and family. However, it was the complete opposite. They have been nothing but supporitve and LOVING! I have connected with many people on a new personal level, my relationship as become stronger with my partner, and after 20 years, I am able to confidently say I am greater than my worries.

Praise God!

Relationship Education

Section 7 Bog Article Review

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/stronger-the-broken-places/202001/revenge-is-its-own-punishment

The article I chose to read for relationship education was "Revenge is its own punishment".

I chose this article because it related to personal experiences I have had in a past relationship and from that relationship is where I truly learned the value in watching what you say from being the person who lashes out and being the person on the other end of being lashed out at. We've grown up with the saying of "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". Although that may be the case realistically speaking, the emotional response can be long lasting for some people. Its so important to take the time to step away for a moment for both parties to calm down and reevaluate any situation with a clear mind to open the path for constructive communication.

My inspiration for this project is very personal to me since the future Mrs. Westendorf is my best friend! Alexis and her fiancé are wine lovers (the wine glass picture is actually from one of their engagement photos!) and naturally wanted to incorporate that into their wedding colors with the burgundy & classic gold. There is a mixture of styles that fuse together Alexis' California-born glamorous taste with the hill country of Texas where the two will tie the knot. I can picture the two-stepping and awkward dancing after a few drinks already! Friends & family can take the fun home with them through the bride & groom's favorite mini liquor bottles... because there is no better way to say thank you!
