When the bride chooses not to be a bridezilla

Posted By Michelle Zayas, Monday, November 25, 2019

Hi All, My name is Michelle and I am from Newport News, VA. I am a registered nurse by trade. However, I needed an outlet, something that does not involve surgery and cancer. So I decided to go out of my element and take this coarse on Wedding and event planning. I am throughly enjoying every aspect. Now the only wedding I have planned was my own and believe me when I say "I wish I had a planner, it couldn't be farther from the truth". I had to shop for the venues, church, car rental, flowers, bride maids gowns, my own gown, tuxedo, and everything else. The only thing I had was time. I took all of 18 months to get the wedding plans right. Had I know now, I would of loved to put it in the budget to have a planner even if it was just for the day. My mom had to be the buffer on the day of as I was not about the drama and didn't feel I needed to be bothered by questions, excuses, or blatant silliness. Poor mom I will need to thank her again for being their for me.

This course had taught me there is always a solution and when all else fails your contract is going to be the best thing to come back to. I have learned so much and feel I have the tools to make it on my own, slowely but dedicated. I chose not be be a bridezilla because I wanted the best for my wedding and to have agreat memories. So I know when dealing with a bridezilla that I am there to listen and help them emotionally like my mom did for me.

Project #1 - Eco/Economy Conscious Couple Throw a Guest Focused Wedding

Posted By Ashley Stokes, Friday, November 22, 2019

Hello, All! My name is Ashley Stokes from Albuquerque, New Mexico. A bit about me, even though I prefer to stay behind the scenes. My academic background is in English, more specifically technical writing. My time working for the government truly ignited the little spark I have always had for event management. So, I left my government job to work for myself! The Event Collaborative opened in February of 2017 and here I am trying to sharpen my skills while gaining my certification.

This course has been a pleasant surprise. I thought this may just push me over the edge in info-absorption. Easy to follow material and quizzes that align with the course content has been a pleasure to swim through and compare to my own experience.

In regard to Project 1, my sweet, outdoorsy couple chose an Autumn wedding in a local venue. We went with simple greenery, mostly eucalyptus, with splashes of rich color. In addition to the greenery, we used soft up-lighting for a warm tone/mood throughout the event. Cream linens and lace were also implemented. Hardy fare served buffet style satisfied hungry guests. The night closed with music from a local (shall I say local celebrities of sorts) and dispensing of locally crafted wedding favors. It was a pleasure to focus on the guests AND the local economy with my super eco/economy conscious couple.

CWEP Project 3

Posted By Ashley Chastine, Tuesday, November 19, 2019
Hello, My name is Ashley Chastine and this is my project 3. AKC Wedding & Event Planning gives engaged couple and anyone trying to plan an event a complementary consultation to help plan for their big day. Hoschton, Georgia - November 18, 2019 - Ashley Chastine is a certified wedding and event planner that is here in the Hoschton to celebrate the grand opening of new company AKC Wedding & Event Planning  with complementary consultations for engaged couples and anyone wanting to plan a party. I really enjoyed this project. The only thing I was not a big fan of was having to post things on Facebook. I do not feel comfortable doing that when it is just for school. If it was for a real business I would but I not doing that even if it is mandatory. Overall, I had fun with this though. My grand opening event is a classy but casual event. I hope you enjoy. Thank you for this experience.

Project 1

Posted By Wanda Bryce, Tuesday, November 19, 2019

Hello, My name is Wanda Bryce and I have finally completed my last assignment. I chose to plan a bi-cultural wedding with Jamaican and French connections. Given that I am Jamaican and I am in love with the French culture of romance I thought this was ideal.

This wedding is being held for a bi-racial, bi-cultural, millennial couple. Chris is the Groom, he is a Caucasian French-American and the Bride, Lia, is a black Jamaican woman. The couple met in Brooklyn, New York where they explored and solidified their love for each other. Chris proposed at a mutual friend’s yatch party while docked at the Statue of Liberty on New Year’s Day, January 2019 at 12:01am. The wedding is set to be held at Chris’ childhood country home in France. The décor and design will pay homage to Chris’ culture while the food, music and most of the appreciation tokens will reflect Lia’s Jamaican heritage. The atmosphere will include family members from Jamaica and France enjoying the celebration while getting to know each other and learn the respective cultures.

The wedding planner will use the A8 Formula to illustrate the event. The Bride and Groom’s attire will be fitting for their personality, venue selection and day-of weather conditions. The couple will sport a modern, yet slightly vintage and chic look. The Bride and Groom’s accessories will complement their attire and accentuate the entire look. The couple will wear minimum jewelry but the select pieces will no-doubt be a show stopper. The theme of the wedding will reflect the Bride and Groom’s culture and personality with signature styles such as the Bride’s favorite color, purple/lavender, being the focal theme and a slight inclusion of the New York City life with small décor such as yellow cab, Statue of Liberty ornaments with one of three photo booths being “Brooklyn-Nets” themed. The other two photo booths will be Eiffel Tower themed and Jamaican Sunset Themed. The menu will consist mainly of traditional Jamaican meals such as Jamaican pepper shrimp cocktail, Jamaican escovitch fish and bammy, Jamaican oxtail and steamed vegetables and Jamaican Jerk Chicken and rice and peas being served from a live Jerk Chicken Grill. The drink options will vary between choices such as Jamaican Rum punch and Jamaican Rum cream and an assorted list of French Wines.

Guests will enjoy traditional Jamaican folk dance performance and a traditional French music performance. The DJ will play from a curated playlist consisting of Dancehall, Reggae, 90s R&B Hits and French party music. Guests will leave with numerous tokens of appreciation from French desserts to Jamaican Red Label Win samples. The Cake will be in the shape of the Eiffel Tower but the flavor will be that of Jamaican black cake. A secondary buttercream map of Jamaica cake will be available for those who would prefer something less traditional.

CWEP Project 2

Posted By Rebecca Hayter, Monday, November 18, 2019

Hello!

My name is Rebecca Lillie Hayter and I've lived in Tucson, AZ since December 2017 when my husband and I were stationed here. We brought our home and our sweet dog, Turbo with us to start this new life and as newlyweds to boot! When we decided to get married we wanted to have a private ceremony with just family before my husband was deployed for a year and then have the reception afterwards when he got back. So suffice to say, I had very little time and very little certainty that our big day would be as we wanted and planned.

I've had so much fun learning about the ins and outs of Wedding and Event Planning in this course. This project was a little difficult though since I wanted it to be perfect and exactly the way I had envisioned it, but all works out in the end.

My focus is on Weddings for couples who want to make the most out of their big day whether it's their first or third marriage. Making it feel like the day was made with them in mind.

Hope you enjoy!

Project 1: Plan a wedding

Posted By Lia Diogo, Monday, November 18, 2019

Hi everyone!

I'm Lia Diogo and I live in Westchester County in New York.

Although this is project nr 1, this is my final project to submit to the  board.
I have planned a wedding on December 24th, 2019 for my couple, Alexandra and Brandon. They love Christmas and winter so they really wanted a Christmas Eve wedding.
We faced some challenges along the way because December 24th is not  just any day, but eventually all the vendors and venues we wanted were willing to help us and accommodate us on this special day.

I loved doing the CWEP course and the projects. It was a lot of work but I really enjoyed doing it, and I feel I have learned so much. I even feel that I may actually start my own business even though this was not my intention when I started the course.

Lia

CWEP Project 2

Posted By Lesly Reyes, Sunday, November 17, 2019

Hello Everyone!

My name is Lesly Reyes and I am from Northern Virginia. Prior to my current employment, I spent the previous years working for a spa where I held the position of event coordinator and fell more in love with planning events. I’m fully emerged in this course and being an up-and-coming wedding and event planner.

So far, I have had a great experience with this course. I have learned so much over the past few weeks. I feel more prepared and knowledgeable of what it truly means to be a wedding and event planner. Like the previous project, this one also challenged me but in a completely different way. It really made me sit down and reflect on what I truly want from a business and what I want that reputation to be. Every day, I feel more confident in my abilities to own a successful and thriving business.

I present to you my brand Events LVR. I want Events LVR to be recognized by our impeccable attention to detail and ability to create a seamless event that tells a story, rather it be a love story, a birth story or a story based on success. I strive to have my business be all inclusive and not only represent but celebrate the beauty of the many backgrounds, cultures and traditions of my clients.
