Project 1

Posted By Casey M. LeBlanc, Friday, March 8, 2019
Updated: Friday, March 8, 2019

Hello everyone!

I'm Casey LeBlanc of Bridal Boss. I make Day Planners for brides. I've been planning weddings since 2012, and corporate/nonprofit events before that. My mom is a florist, so I'm an industry brat. We like to say weddings and events are in my blood! I enrolled in the Master Class program to learn and grow as much as I can as an event professional, and to give me the confidence to go after bigger events. We recently moved 13 hours from our hometown, so being the new girl has taken me out of my comfort zone (and away from all my contacts!)

So far I have loved this course. It's pushing me to go out and forge new relationships much faster than I would have on my own. I've visited new venues and made new vendor friends. If you're located in west Texas, I'd love to connect! @bridalbossplanner on Instagram.

For Project 1, I planned a Spring wedding for Allison and Jared in Santa Fe, NM. They are an adorable young professional couple who want to host a swanky event that they can invite their colleagues to. The color palette is blush, peach, and coral with gold accents. We went with a sheer long sleeve gown because the evenings can be a bit chilly there. After the ceremony, guests will enjoy a variety of waiter passed hors' oeuvres and champagne during Cocktail Hour. Immediately to follow will be the Reception with a sit down dinner, music and dancing.

Marriage and Relationship Education Programs: Do They Work?

Posted By Constance Gamboa, Thursday, March 7, 2019
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/living-single/201006/marriage-and-relationship-education-programs-do-they-work

Couples typically participate in workshops in which they learn relationship skills such as learning how to disagree without being disagreeable.

Building Strong Families, involving more than 5,000 couples recruited from 8 different parts of the country. The 8 versions of the Building Strong Families program also measured couples' communication skills.

On the average, the program participants spent between 9 and 20 hours in the training workshops.

Couples who participated in the program communicated better than couples who had not participated.

Does your spouse insult you when he (she) gets angry with you?" On those measures, marriage education was totally irrelevant. Across the experimental and quasi-experimental studies, program participants reported communication that was no better than that of the couples who had not participated in the program.

Studies were conducted in 8 different locations, the participants were unmarried couples who were expecting a baby or just had one.  Group sessions focused on relationship skills, such as managing conflict, expressing affection, and considering marriage.

There were differences not just by location but also by race. Specifically, for couples in which both members were African Americans, relationship quality improved. Other couples, though, were more likely to break up if they participated in the program than if they did not.

CWEP Project 3

Posted By Daniel Harari, Thursday, March 7, 2019

My name is Daniel Harari and I am 21 years old, I was born in Israel and raised in NJ, I currently live in NYC.

I started the course in hope of achieving my goals and reaching my dreams of becoming a wedding/event planner. I am so grateful to say that under the leadership and guidance of my teachers I know how to keep my commitments to my clients and how to correctly run my future company.

I have realized a whole new creative side of myself and can’t wait to explore it more.

Throughout the course something came across my path, the thought that a possible consequence could have been that I was not going to be able to finish this course, I realized how much I really wanted this. I am proud to say that I have pushed through and I have committed to completing the course no matter what.

This is my Project #3 and these images show my theme as I am doing a Black & White theme.

CEWP PROJECT 1

Posted By Alassandra Gournaris, Thursday, March 7, 2019
Updated: Thursday, March 7, 2019

Hello! My name is Alassandra Gournaris, and I'm from Kansas City. I am brand new to the "adult" world and currently work in sales. I have taken many business and marketing classes and anticipated launching a career in the corporate world, but after a few months of doing that, I now know that I need a career where I can be creative and be my own boss. I'm not very brave at making life changing decisions, but so far, I know that this course will be absolutely worth it.  I come from a big family, and I was always the designated "party planner" and I thrived on it. I have a passion for making people happy, and weddings are supposed to be the happiest moment of a couple's life. I want to help relieve the stress that comes with it.

So far, this course has taught me so much about wedding traditions. There is sooooo much. I didn't know what I didn't know! Knowing the background and traditions and professional wedding etiquette will help me "set the stage" properly. I can't wait to learn more about other culture's beautiful wedding traditions and create my own mood board based on those.

This mood board is loosely based on  a Mexican wedding. Bright colors, amazing food, buckets and buckets of flowers, and cacti. This would be a beautiful indoor or outdoor summer wedding for a fun-loving couple.

I love this course and cannot wait to launch my career in such an amazing industry.

(Also, feel free to follow me on Instagram @alassandragournaris hehe)

Hello, My name is Olivia Mwende. I am the founder and Director of Beautiful You Events. We are based in Mombasa Kenya. Our company was formed in 2012 and started operation in 2013, it was challenging at the start but I believed in my dreams and now 6 years down the line we are still keeping the faith and we have big dreams for the future.

I love planning and decor and i have been looking forwad to joining a university that will give me more knowledge on the same. I am very excited to do this online course. I honestly believe people/potential clients take you more serious when you become certified in your field of work.

The mood i created in this project is rustic meets elegance. Natural earth tones, nudes with a mix of bold colors like black and gold.

On a beautiful summer evening by the beach, the colors blend in well with the sunset and orange skies. The couple is Rose and Jack, they are having a destination wedding in Mombasa. Many couples travel from different parts of the world to come experience our white sandy beaches and the beautiful weather. Rose and Jack live in Nairobi which is the capital city of Kenya and its their first time to travel to Mombasa. They have brought their family to come help celebrate their union and enjoy a mini vacation.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Kia True-Yasaki, Tuesday, March 5, 2019

Hey Everyone! My name is Kia (like the car) I'm from San Jose, California and I currently work full time as well as taking this class. At my job, we have to have these monthly events and I was always the one getting it set up and making all the arrangements and whatnot that it got to the point where I decided to just make a career change. I always wanted to see everything that goes into planning amazing weddings and events and now I finally get to follow my dreams!

This course is incredible. I'm loving it and I'm learning so much. I had no idea that so much went into just one little part of a wedding. This project had me stressing since it first got assigned to us because I wanted everything to be perfect! It's a lot harder than I thought it would be and it definitely requires a lot of patience. I personally think my child-like voice keeps some of the vendors from wanting to reach out to me because they think it'll just be a waste of their time. The amount of vendors I tried to contact compared to how many I actually got to speak to and work with is astounding, so that was a little stressful too as the deadline got closer. Other than that though, I had a lot of fun with this project and just getting to familiarize myself with this industry.

In my scenario, I'm planning a wedding for this super awesome total outdoors couple, Samantha and Jacob. They're the sweetest couple, and I absolutely love the theme: under the stars. it's different than what it originally was (Deep Sea) but it fits them so well. The ceremony is outside to make their "I do" moment special as well as being in a place they truly love: the outdoors! Including themselves, there's 100 guests total. It's going to be at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links at the end of June this year!

CWEP Project 1: Canva Mood Board

Posted By Joanne Viaud, Sunday, March 3, 2019
Updated: Sunday, March 3, 2019

My name is Joanne Viaud. I have recently repatriated to the United States, after six years, as an expat, in The Netherlands. I have always loved planning events, weddings especially, and have decided that I am finally ready to make event planning a career.

I truly believe that The Universe placed my husband and I in Texas, for this very reason. Being in such close proximity to The University of Texas, afforded me the opportunity to pursue my dream, in a very real and credible way. I wanted to have the brick and mortar experience and feel truly fortunate to have found the Longevity program, offered by an accredited institution. My journey is off to a great start, with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor at the helm and classmates, who go above and beyond to make every session enjoyable and exciting.

I wish each and everyone of you much success in your endeavors!

Attached is my Canva Mood Board for CWEP Project 1, which represents fairytale inspired Signature Wedding, at the beautiful OHEKA Castle, in Huntington New York.

The bride and groom, began their journey of love, when they met in The Laguardia Airport, in New York City, whilst returning to Boston to complete their graduate studies. They both gave large families and lots of friends and want to make their wedding day memorable, not only for themselves but also for those they love and cherish.

The bride is Indian (Hindu) and the groom is Catholic from his maternal side and Jewish from his paternal side. They have chosen to have an interfaith wedding and will incorporate their cultural traditions in the ceremony and reception.

The bride and groom share an extraordinary bond. Their romance has been a fairytale like journey and thus everything will represent the same. All aspects, from anticipation, attire, guest arrivals, the choice of flowers, the color palette, the brides arrival to the ceremony by horse and carriage, the outdoor cocktail hour, string quartet, classical pianist, full band, candlelit reception dinner, wedding favors, to the end of the night candle lantern send off, will imbue elegance, grace, and beauty, with love, family, and friendship at the center. No detail will be too small!

Hello, my name is Elaine.  The beautiful couple in my wedding event will have an outdoor, September wedding.  If the weather doesn't permit, it will be moved indoors to the reception hall, also on the same grounds.  They would like the wedding to be simple but elegant.  They have chosen navy and burgundy as their colors.  The bride, an executive for a large firm, will be in a floor length, candlelite white Cinderella gown with an elbow length veil by Vera Wang.  The groom, employed in the oil field business, will be in a black tux, rented from Formal Wear, a local company.  The cake will be a small, two tier, white on white with a small arrangement of flowers on the top with cupcakes of various flavors on each guest table, showcasing an arrangement of the bride's favorite flowers.  Cakes will be furnished by Cakes Galore.  The bride's party and family will be in navy and the groom's in burgundy.  Favors will be handed out at the guest registration table.  The honeymoon will be a short vacation in the Bahamas, planned through expedia.com.  May the couple live happily ever after.

Hi, I'm Gabrielle from CCSF class. In my personal experience, this project has been challenging and fun at the same time. This course made me realize that wedding planning industry is real serious at it's not that easy at all! Anyways, my proposed wedding scenario is about a couple, Cali and Boss, that is planning to have a Ranch/ Winery wedding next year Spring and they want to be outdoors. They will have 100 guests including them. The colors that they've been wanting is pastel blue and pink, and light grey with a contrast of white and gold.

CWEP: Project 1- Mood Board

Posted By Deirdre M. Payne, Saturday, March 2, 2019

My name is Deirdre Payne, Owner of I Do LLC., in Virginia. After several careers in the corporate field, some in Event Planning, I decided to break out on my own a few years ago. In the past, I planned everything from Chili Cookoffs, Golf Tournaments and Automotive Shows to Bridal Shows and Weddings.  Being a life-long hopeless romantic, it is now Wedding Planning that has the most appeal. Becoming certified in the field has been on my bucket list for over five years, which is how I finally got enrolled in this class. I am excited for all that I will learn to help expand my business.

This Mood Board tells the love story of a couple from different worlds. She is a little older and business driven, but loves the idea of relaxing on the beach. He is an outdoorsman and loves the mountains. He dreamt of a wedding on a hillside, smoking meat over a fire, but loved her enough to compromise. From their first kiss in the mountains to the one that would marry their lives together on the beach, it is a true love story. My goal was to have a romantic/tropical feel and include his wish for brisket on the menu and a horse on the beach. Of course, their friends were thrilled to be a part and later see her wish...fireworks in the shape of two intertwined hearts, like theirs will be forever.

CWEP Project 1 Mood Board

Posted By Shannon Davis, Saturday, March 2, 2019

Hi! My name is Shannon Davis. I have been married for 27 years, I have two daughters, one grown and married and one that is finishing up her sophomore year in college. I have been in the ocean transportation industry for over 28 years. Now that my children are grown, I am looking for a career path that would be enjoyable to do every day.
I do not have any previous experience in wedding or event planning outside of planning my own daughter's wedding, I took this class to gain the knowledge I needed to be successful in this new path.  While I am only on week 2 of this class it is a wealth of information and provides details that are extremely helpful. You do not consider the need for at least a limited amount of knowledge in all things wedding including dresses and diamonds when you first start as you are just focused on the planning and coordination aspects.
I have been asked to plan a wedding coming up this summer and this is the inspiration for my mood board and project. My bride and groom come from vastly different backgrounds so the bride is looking for a country wedding for her soon to be husband's taste of outdoors, country and "not stuffy" but not so country that it isn't also elegant for her tastes as well. I believe I have been able to utilize my brides neutral and navy color pallet, textures and atmosphere to provide the balance between rustic and chic that she is looking for.

CWEP Project #1 - Mood Board

Posted By Melanie Tiffen, Friday, March 1, 2019

Greetings, fellow planners! My name is Melanie Tiffen. I'm rejoining the planning industry after spending the last decade in the tech industry. For this project, I decided to go with a non-wedding event. I love baby showers. There's nothing quite as exciting (or intimidating) as welcoming a new life into the world. Event planning is all about making the happiest moments in the lives of our clients more enjoyable and less stressful (and who could use less stress more than a soon-to-be-mother, am I right?)

This baby shower is an Alice in Wonderland themed! The colors are riotous, the atmosphere is happy and fun, and food is easy tea-party fair. What a joyous occasion to welcome a new addition in our mad, mad world.

Hi there! My name is Heather Zanow, the owner of Plan.Tabulous Events and I'm very excited to be taking this course. I feel like I have already learned so much and I'm just getting started. With this project, I decided to go with a wedding that I have just started planning for October 2020. This mood board is designed around Disney's Beauty and the Beast. There is just something about Disney inspired weddings that brings joy to my heart and I love how the Navy blues, pure golds and enchanted rose reds bring this romantic but classic fairytale to life in the most beautiful way.
