What a Journey

Posted By Leslie Giovinazzo, Monday, November 21, 2011
I have never been so involved in a course like I have this one.  I have always wanted to go to school for wedding planning, but never really thought I would do it.  Looking back I am so glad that I did sign up for this course.  My family wants to start a Bed and Breakfast and I would like to plan weddings and events at the location.  I feel that this course has given me the information I need in order to make this my career.  I want to thank Kelly and all of the other teachers for helping through this course and answering any questions that I had.

A Happy Ending to an Amazing Journey

Posted By Radja Alvarez, Monday, November 21, 2011
I am happy to announce that I have submitted my last assignments to and aced the final exam with LWPI.  This has been an amazing journey.  I learned so much about the wedding planning industry and have booked my first bride for a Fall, 2012 wedding.  I am looking forward to utilizing the skills and knowledge LWPI has taught me.  The course was easy to follow and the instructors were delighful and very helpful.  Now that I have the business end of wedding planning underway, I plan to take the PBSWED course in the near future to add to the design element of the business.  Thank you so much LWPI for making this not only so informative but loads of fun as well.  I would recommend this course to anyone desirous of a wedding or event planning career.

My Neice's Wedding

Posted By Radja Alvarez, Tuesday, November 15, 2011
I helped plan my 2 niece's, brother's and my best friend's weddings.  Not real clients, of course, but wonderful training and experience.  My involvment in planning these events made me realize my passion for it.  Shortly thereafter I enrolled in the LWPI progam.  Here is a sample of one of my neice's March 20, 2009 Spring Bling theme wedding.  The reception was held at the Doubletree Grand in Miami, Florida.  What an awesome day!  I can proudly say they have been married for nearly 3 years and have a beautiful baby boy that will be a year old on 12/12/11.

Thank You LWPI!

Posted By Kara Parker, Tuesday, November 15, 2011
I had a wonderful experience taking this course. Sometimes I got really frustrated, but it will be worth it once I get that certificate!

I planned every single detail of my wedding. I also made all of the decorations. It was everything I had always wanted it to be, since I was the kind of girl who had been dreaming of this day since high school.

After my wedding was over, I still had wedding fever, and I knew this is what I needed to be doing for life. I tried college a few times before, but was never really satisfied with what I chose to study. So I talked to my husband and started researching schools. There are a lot out there, but none impressed me like LWPI. So within the next week, I got my book in the mail and started working on the course.

I loved how broad of a spectrum they teach. Everything you could possibly need to know about the industry, you get in this course.

Here is the link to my design page on Pinterest. Pinterest.com/eventdesigns
I love putting together the vision of wedding, and this website lets you do that. I recommend it to everyone.

Here is also some pictures from my wedding, as this is the only one I've done so far.  We had a coastal theme wedding, our colors were sand and light blue. The ceremony and reception were at the same location. A boathouse that has been around since the 1920's and the ceremony was held outside by the lake. These pictures are just ones I have from family cameras.

Plan the party

Posted By Kelly Ham, Saturday, November 12, 2011
First off I would like to thank Carol, an amazing instructor, for being such a wonderful instructor and for all her great advice!  I am excited to use everything I have learned in the course and put it to use.  I don't have very much experience in planning weddings, only a few birthday parties and baby showers here and there, so I am excited to work on planning weddings. There are so many different details that go into planning a wedding that I would have probably not thought of if I had not taken this course, so I would definitely recommend anyone interested in the wedding business to take this course!

Time to Party! I mean plan a party

Posted By Victoria Chavez, Thursday, November 3, 2011

I've had such a good time in this class. I can't believe it's gone by so fast. The curriculum was more challenging than I expected... but in a good way. Carol is an amazing teacher! Her experience and expertise in the industry is priceless. I am so thankful that she arragned for guest speakers to come in and let us in on industry secrets. Going to visit local vendors and learning all about their part in an event was awesome. I hope to get started as a Wedding an Event Planner in the near future. I have learned so much that I never knew or even considered about this business.

Amazing Experience

Posted By Summer Wright, Monday, October 31, 2011
I truly believe that choosing to take the Certified Wedding and Event Planner course through my local college was the best decision I have made for my new business. Amanda Allen of MMD Events, our classroom instructor, is amazing. The online course alone is fantastic, but when you gain a mentor like Amanda you gain everything and more. Being introduced to local venues and event professionals in the area was only one of the many benefits.

Here are some pictures from a chocolate themed shower I just did. It had a gourmet s'more bar, chocolate dipped cheesecake strawberries, strawberry shortcake chocolate cups and peanut butter pretzel balls. The women could not stop talking about the s'more bar it was a huge hit.

Hello everyone,

First off, I would like to thank Carol, our instructor, for all the amazing people she has introduced us to and for passing all of her knowledge on to us. I have truly enjoyed the class and the new friends I have created. I can’t wait until I put everything I have learned into practice.

I'm a huge fan of photography so, I have attached a few of my fun "trash the dress" pictures. All photographs taken by Fizelwink Photography by Ryan Thomas Young.

Wine Lover Themed Fete'

Posted By Keshawn Ridgel, Friday, October 21, 2011

Recently, I hosted a wine themed fete’ to introduce my business, Event Passion, LLC, to family and friends. The event was held at Sip Riverside, a venue with wine stations offering guests the option for a sip, half or full glass of over 40 different wines. Assorted sweets- chocolate covered strawberries, drunken cupcakes (flavored with Chambord, Kahlua, and Grand Marnier)shot glass filled desserts, petit fours, and the piece de resistance- a wine bottle shaped cake, were served along with delicious tapas and entrees. In addition, guests adorned their glasses with charms and everyone said they had a great time!

I’m excited about putting my LWPI certification to work; growing my business and helping my clients achieve their event dreams.

Thank you!

Where to start the planning process

Posted By Janice Fishbaugh, Sunday, October 9, 2011

I have recently encountered a bride who is currently the maid of honor in her sister's wedding one month away and is engaged, herself, to be married in seven months.  She has no idea where to start nor the time to do so. When she approached me, I was glad I had a bridal profile questionnaire to hand her. This questionnaire gave her a core place to start and immediately i was able to see her immediate relief.  It was a great, rewarding feeing and exactly why I wanted to get into this business.  I have found so many enriching ideas in this course and am so glad I am a part of it.

I am excited to get through my first party because i am a bit nervous.  Luckily it is a family friend that I am planning the party for.

Excited to get started!

Posted By Ashley Gregory, Sunday, October 2, 2011
As this is one of my last assignments before I am officially done with my course, I can look back and honestly say, I have more than enjoyed this course to it's fullest. I am more excited, beyond what words can express, to start my career as a wedding and event planner. I also am a consultant for in-home parties and looking forward to put my new 'party-throwing' skills that I have learned through the course, into use.
I am impressed with the challenges that came with each chapter, Destination Weddings and Signature Weddings were definitely the two chapters that were not the easiest for me, but they were fun and in the end, I now can point future clients in the right direction!!

Thanks so much for everything you've given me to kick-off my wedding and event planning business LPWI! I loved every minute of it!!

{Real Wedding} Marisa and Brian

Posted By Kelli Crannell, Friday, September 2, 2011

I am over the moon excited to be able to share these beautiful pictures of a wonderful couple that I had the pleasure of working with July 9, 2011. Brian and Marisa contacted us and requested our services for "Day of" coordination for their wedding day. It was truly our honor to work with these two and get the chance to work at 2 beautiful venues and along side some incredibly talented vendors as well. I hope you enjoy this little snapshot into their wedding day!

Their ceremony took place at the Denver Botanical Gardens in the "Romantic Gardens". It began as a beautifully sunny day that quickly turned into rain with periods of sunshine at just the right moments.

Marisa and Brian were lucky enough to get ready in the Waring House on the grounds of the Denver Botanical Garden.  This particular location is not available to the public so it was unique in nature and it also allowed for some breathtaking shots.

Marisa's hand tied bouquet consisted of blue hydrangea, blue cornflower, purple anemone, white sweet peas, green dendrobium orchids, scabiosa pods with accents of purple fern shoots and a collar of dusty miller. The bridesmaids carried white garden roses, blue hydrangea, green dianthus and dusty miller.

The Wedding Reception was held at the historic Hotel Monaco Downtown Denver. If you have never had the opportunity to visit, I highly suggest it. The hotel is beautiful and the staff A-MA-ZING!

It was an incredible day spent with an incredible couple! Congratulations again to Marisa and Brian! Many happy wishes to you both!

Congrats to LWPI Instructor on Wedding Features

Posted By Abby Langston, Monday, August 22, 2011
Congratulations to LWPI instructor Helen Fong, who teaches a certified wedding and event planner course at Miami Dade: Kendall. One of her weddings was recently featured on Floridian Weddings and  Martha Stewart.com. What a gorgeous affair! We're so proud of Helen's work and know her students will continue to learn some of the best tricks of the trade from her.

At the beginning of this Summer I decided to take the first initial steps toward pursuing my dream of becoming a wedding planner and I'm so happy that I'm gaining my certification through LWPI. I've had lots of fun expressing my creativity with the assignments and learned a lot about the business aspect of the industry. This has certainly been an informative and enjoyable experience so I would like to say "thank you" to Ms.Obando for all that you've done.

Thanks to you and LWPI, I feel I am ready and so excited for the next chapter in my life!
