Experience; Progress

Posted By Cecelia H. Rivers, Wednesday, December 2, 2015

This course has been far more informative and helpful than I ever imagined!  While I expected to be done by now, I am thankful that it is self-paced.  Between work, family, life, and events, it's taken longer. I also just recently planned a very large wedding - 500 guests-- so that took a lot of time. I  have a few items to work on for Project 3 and then I hope to finish the course. Again, I am thankful it is available to all of us who want to become certified wedding planners.

Experience as a student

Posted By Andrea Shaw, Wednesday, December 2, 2015

I overall enjoyed this course very much. It was very time consuming but well worth it! I found the projects to be a little intense but also liked getting to know new programs and how to set up a website. I am very glad I took this course and can't wait to see where it will lead.

Experience as a Student

Posted By Nicole Baeza, Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Phew what a whirlwind. The wedding planning course did get overwhelming at times due to working a full time job and life overall. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about various wedding traditions in different cultures and found the marketing and business information to be very informative. I plan on taking time to thoroughly develop my business plans and attending additional workshops to increase my knowledge in this area. Overall I found that the text is a great outline for how to begin my new business and how to become a knowledgeable wedding planner.

My Experience as a Student of Lovegevity

Posted By Myrna Garcia, Wednesday, December 2, 2015

I have had a very positive experience with Lovegevity. The instructors in the online discussions are very informative and share their experiences in the field of Wedding / Event Planning which I find to be very helpful. The coursework is interesting with good information, assessments of knowledge and assignments that prepare you for your business. The support feature is excellent. Most of the time, I get a quick response to my questions or issues that may arise. I am very happy that I enrolled in this course!

Assignment 18.6

Posted By Clarissa Baca, Wednesday, December 2, 2015
My experience with LWPI has been a blessing to me. My schedule, both work related and personnel, is chaotic and I am always on the go. This online course has made it possible for me to further my education. From a young age I have always enjoyed being a hostess and a variety of events from birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers and I have planned several weddings. Completing this course will help me achieve my dream of owning my own event planning business. The information I gained in this course I consider valuable knowledge which I will apply in my future event planning.

Lovegevity Final Post

Posted By Cassie Vestal, Wednesday, December 2, 2015

I enjoyed this course overall. I learned a lot from my instructor at the University of Richmond, and believe that she helped immensely in guiding me to setting myself up as a business owner in events. When I initially signed up for the course, it was not listed as a Lovegevity course and was a little put off to learn that this course was almost completely online. I am thankful of my instructor, and wish that a lot more of the responsibility and authority was placed onto her during this course, because the website was hard to grasp and it left out a lot of options that would be advantageous. For example, I wish that I was told what I missed on the quizzes because then I would know what I needed to study more of in preparation for the next quiz and final exam. I wish that our instructor was able to see everything that we turned in for the course, so that he or she would at least be able to tell us our progress, since the website does not. The website only tells us quizzes and surveys in one place, and we have to email to gain access to other things that we turned in-and it is just a messy process.

This is a great course in theory, but I would love to see the kinks worked out and have a more fluid certification program. I did enjoy this program very much, but I don't know if I would have as much if I didn't have such a great instructor and just done the program online. I enjoy the blogging, and the ability to interact with more people that are taking the course-so that is a great idea by Lovegevity. Perhaps I am alone in thinking this way, but I think the great ideas of this course just need to be more accessible to the students.

Project 3

Posted By Hannah Lagasse (Hagan), Tuesday, December 1, 2015

I liked doing project three because it was the business side of things not just planning an event. I never would have imagined trying to figure out a name for my business. The project really helped with little details I never would have thought out to bring the clients in. My goal one day is to have my own wedding and event planning business. This project was fun and gave me a head start on things I need to think about! I hope you all enjoy my grand opening!

Project 1

Posted By Hannah Lagasse (Hagan), Tuesday, December 1, 2015

I enjoyed doing project 1! It was fun to really figure out my strengths and weaknesses when it came to planning an event. Weddings have been my main focus point ever since I decided I wanted to be an event planner. Project number one really shows my taste and personality as I was able to pretend to create my own wedding! I hope whoever views my project finds it enjoyable because I truly did have a fun time doing it!

Project 2

Posted By Jennifer Urias, Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Fellow Planners,

I loved doing Project 2! It was so much fun creating all the documents required to be a successful wedding planner. I learned a lot of new things about myself and the information that I need to provide to sell myself successfully. I spent a lot of time on each document, making sure that each one reflected myself and my style. I hope that you enjoy viewing my project as much as I loved creating it. Feel free to comment or ask any questions.

with Love,

Jennifer Urias

Fall In Love Project 1

Posted By Marissa Hunter, Tuesday, December 1, 2015
Updated: Tuesday, December 1, 2015
—This project was a fall wedding the theme was “Fall in Love”. I set the mood with in the beginning with the Disney love songs that play as the guests arrive. It puts love in the air of the fall crisp evening as the colors of fall surrounds them. The bride chose a beautiful color scheme that I tied into every aspect of the wedding. I was able to use the seasons gifts to the couples advantage and make it an autumn fairytale of their dreams.

Can you intern part time as a wedding coordinator?

Posted By Amiee LaLone, Tuesday, December 1, 2015
Is it possible to intern part time as a wedding coordinator?  For instance, can someone who works full time during the day help intern at night or on the weekends?

A great experience knowing how to sell your business. Thinking about how great it will be to work with actual clients in New York area is exciting. The mounts of options for celebrations here is overwhelming and I am happy to be here. This project made me think on how I'd like to present my business.

LOVEGEVITY FOR ME!

Posted By Cynthia M. Chevalier, Tuesday, December 1, 2015

This course has been a very long journey, at times even confusing. But it has taught be so much because being in a business is nothing easy. This is all about work and dedication at all times. There is absolutely no time for DOWN time and I've definitely learned that. I would say my eyes and brain have been opened to a new reality and I have realized this is exactly what I want but I need to WANT it more than anything happening around me. I appreciate my teacher and I am grateful for the opportunity Lovegevity has given me.

This project was very thorough. It opened my eyes to how much goes into planning a successful event, I am thrilled to be able to get into this as my career. It was wonderful to be behind the scenes filling in all of the finer details. I also liked being able to learn about the vendors in my area, and how to work with them. I feel like I am ready to take on my upcoming event with flying colors. Truly enjoyed this project.

Grand Opening- Project 3

Posted By Miriam Smith, Monday, November 30, 2015

This was definitely the most challenging and fun project. I had to get into the mind set of how I would want to run my business as if someone was to call me right now and ask for my services.

Planning my Grand Opening was certainly fun to put together, from the food to the entertainment!

Project 1

Posted By Kimberly Martin, Sunday, November 29, 2015
Updated: Sunday, November 29, 2015

This was a fun first project, but very intense. I had some of my close friends look at my site before I turned it in. My guy friend was too funny, and gave me an A- because he does not give A+'s he stated. It was great to do all the research to see what is new for weddings and receptions. I had a hard time with this, since I had to come up with a couple, and not have someone to actually get ideas from. I changed my mind many times on colors, time of year, cakes....etc. It is definitely bittersweet to finally turn this project in, as I feel like it has consumed me for quite some time, and now I can move on and continue to learn and grow. Below is the link to my WIX website.

Wow! Time flies when you learn so much in this course in a short time.  I am thankful and grateful for this season to begin a new career in my transition from a full time employee to eventually to an entrepreneur.  I thank my instructor Mr. Randy Roberson and my classmates for being a joy during these months.
