CWEP Project 1

Posted By Kayla N. Rickner (Bickell), Monday, December 9, 2019
For this assignment, I put together a mood board for an early 30's couple that is planning a Napa Valley wedding. Wanting to blend the sophistication of Italy to the comfort of their California home, I looked for images that paired elegant with familiar. For example, a wine and cheese hors d'oeuvres buffet style, or gold-trimmed wine glasses placed alongside wooden plates.

Project #1 - Eco/Economy Conscious Couple Throw a Guest Focused Wedding

Posted By Ashley Stokes, Friday, November 22, 2019

Hello, All! My name is Ashley Stokes from Albuquerque, New Mexico. A bit about me, even though I prefer to stay behind the scenes. My academic background is in English, more specifically technical writing. My time working for the government truly ignited the little spark I have always had for event management. So, I left my government job to work for myself! The Event Collaborative opened in February of 2017 and here I am trying to sharpen my skills while gaining my certification.

This course has been a pleasant surprise. I thought this may just push me over the edge in info-absorption. Easy to follow material and quizzes that align with the course content has been a pleasure to swim through and compare to my own experience.

In regard to Project 1, my sweet, outdoorsy couple chose an Autumn wedding in a local venue. We went with simple greenery, mostly eucalyptus, with splashes of rich color. In addition to the greenery, we used soft up-lighting for a warm tone/mood throughout the event. Cream linens and lace were also implemented. Hardy fare served buffet style satisfied hungry guests. The night closed with music from a local (shall I say local celebrities of sorts) and dispensing of locally crafted wedding favors. It was a pleasure to focus on the guests AND the local economy with my super eco/economy conscious couple.

Project 1

Posted By Wanda Bryce, Tuesday, November 19, 2019

Hello, My name is Wanda Bryce and I have finally completed my last assignment. I chose to plan a bi-cultural wedding with Jamaican and French connections. Given that I am Jamaican and I am in love with the French culture of romance I thought this was ideal.

This wedding is being held for a bi-racial, bi-cultural, millennial couple. Chris is the Groom, he is a Caucasian French-American and the Bride, Lia, is a black Jamaican woman. The couple met in Brooklyn, New York where they explored and solidified their love for each other. Chris proposed at a mutual friend’s yatch party while docked at the Statue of Liberty on New Year’s Day, January 2019 at 12:01am. The wedding is set to be held at Chris’ childhood country home in France. The décor and design will pay homage to Chris’ culture while the food, music and most of the appreciation tokens will reflect Lia’s Jamaican heritage. The atmosphere will include family members from Jamaica and France enjoying the celebration while getting to know each other and learn the respective cultures.

The wedding planner will use the A8 Formula to illustrate the event. The Bride and Groom’s attire will be fitting for their personality, venue selection and day-of weather conditions. The couple will sport a modern, yet slightly vintage and chic look. The Bride and Groom’s accessories will complement their attire and accentuate the entire look. The couple will wear minimum jewelry but the select pieces will no-doubt be a show stopper. The theme of the wedding will reflect the Bride and Groom’s culture and personality with signature styles such as the Bride’s favorite color, purple/lavender, being the focal theme and a slight inclusion of the New York City life with small décor such as yellow cab, Statue of Liberty ornaments with one of three photo booths being “Brooklyn-Nets” themed. The other two photo booths will be Eiffel Tower themed and Jamaican Sunset Themed. The menu will consist mainly of traditional Jamaican meals such as Jamaican pepper shrimp cocktail, Jamaican escovitch fish and bammy, Jamaican oxtail and steamed vegetables and Jamaican Jerk Chicken and rice and peas being served from a live Jerk Chicken Grill. The drink options will vary between choices such as Jamaican Rum punch and Jamaican Rum cream and an assorted list of French Wines.

Guests will enjoy traditional Jamaican folk dance performance and a traditional French music performance. The DJ will play from a curated playlist consisting of Dancehall, Reggae, 90s R&B Hits and French party music. Guests will leave with numerous tokens of appreciation from French desserts to Jamaican Red Label Win samples. The Cake will be in the shape of the Eiffel Tower but the flavor will be that of Jamaican black cake. A secondary buttercream map of Jamaica cake will be available for those who would prefer something less traditional.

Project Three

Posted By Wanda Bryce, Monday, November 11, 2019

Hello,

My name is Wanda Bryce and thankfully I am just a few weeks away from completing this course. I am so excited to see how I can use the skills I have learned from all theses assignments. This Project three in particular really challenged me to consider the actual day my business will officially launch and I appreciate that. By doing this assignment I had to really put my thinking cap on and think as two in one by playing two roles. I thought as a planner and thought as my ideal client looking to myself to create the perfect event. I had to do some research to solidify my plan and I ended up gaining new knowledge which I find very important in this industry. Overall, like most of the assignments, this project was incredibly time consuming but the feeling of ticking it off my 'TO DO' list as completed was worth it. I have one assignment left and can't wait to complete it as well. God luck to you all, happy wedding and event planning.

My Name is Pascale and the name of my company is Enchanted Events. We are a full-service wedding planning business and want to create unique experiences for our clients. This collage is an example of the color scheme that we used in many of our events, soft pastels and lots of floral to get a chic but clean and fresh look.  We can easily customize our designs to reflect the clients’ style and personality and make it memorable for them.  Even though my goal is to purchase my own ranch style/barn venue in Central Florida, we want to cater from rustic to elegant events, my team and I are committed to giving our clients what they are looking for and if possible exceed their expectations.

CWEP Project 1.3

Posted By Lisa Blough, Wednesday, August 7, 2019
Updated: Thursday, August 22, 2019

For my Project 1, I decided to extend myself and go for a wedding theme I have never seen or know much about.  I did a Bohemian theme for a fall wedding in the North Georgia Mountains at a local vineyard.  It was challenging to be creative with a style I'm not as familiar with, but learned so much through the process.

I chose to use a wine colored bridesmaid dress and accent colors to tie in with the vineyards.  When I plan a theme for events I never want to go too over the top with it.  I choose to add it in with the mood and style of the event, but not literally come up with dozens of decorations that are the theme.

I love everything about weddings and am very excited about learning all I can to plan and prepare for clients to have the best possible experience.

Project 1

Posted By Marianne Dzikas, Wednesday, June 5, 2019

My name is Marianne Dzikas, I am currently an assistant manager at a pizzeria in the Bronx. I am looking very much to hopefully starting my own event planning business, this course has truly opened my eyes to new ideas beyond what I thought I could make of myself. My goal is to help create experiences for people. Even though I am an introvert, I do love working with all kinds of people and take great pride in simply making their day better even simply by saying a few kind words. Having worked in a Pizzeria for almost ten years, I have learned to handle many difficult situations and empathize with challenging customers. I never take anything personally, you really never know what another person is going through.

My project's theme was "something blue". I may have threw in too many shades, but the concept I concocted was to reveal the calmness of the color and renowned wedding quote and tradition. I tried to incorporate the "couples" old family traditions with the simple childhood game of corn hole along with a projector that played over later on in the reception of old pictures throughout their lifetime.

Project 3 Complete, Formal Launch of I Do LLC is on the Way!

Posted By Deirdre M. Payne, Friday, May 17, 2019
https://www.facebook.com/will.webb.35175/videos/2176662242608615/

We are excited to announce that plans are in the works for the formal launch of I Do LLC. We are a Wedding and Event Planning business, serving Fredericksburg, Virginia and the surrounding areas. The company's Grand Opening event will be held at Brock’s Riverside Grille, in Fredericksburg, on September 25th, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Brocks is a prime riverfront wedding reception venue. We will have a number of our preferred vendors on-site to showcase their services. There will also be food provided, by a local caterer and baker. I Do LLC will work with the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank to accept donations and help fill the pantry's shelves, from September to November, when food supplies are at some of their lowest. Brides can enter to win a Wedding Party on Wheels, try out a photo booth, check out some wedding song options with a local DJ and pick up a cool swag bag from area vendors too.

The Grand Opening will be published in Fredericksburg's local newspaper. It will also be mentioned on two local radio stations and through an ad in The Fredericksburg Guidebook, Tourism publication. Finally, we will do a boots on the ground marketing campaign and place a placard on the Olde Skool Tours pedal bike, which is housed outside the Fredericksburg Visitor's Center.

We plan to continue to seek out and meet with local vendors, to build our offers for future brides and event clients. Our aggressive digital and boots on the ground marketing campaign is getting underway and testimonials are flowing in too. The first bridal “what’s next” is on tap, with the one year anniversary of an I Do LLC couple, this September. We are planning a video shoot for the opening of the time capsule that was at their wedding. A Style Shoot is also on tap with one of our preferred photographers and a bride that may be one of our future clients.

You may reach us at idoweddings.eventplanning@gmail.com.

Before starting this course I would never have imagined posting a blog or knowing this much about the wedding industry, in such a short time. I certainly never thought I would be this close to being able to launch my business, formally.  I am thrilled with this knowledge and look forward to putting my me skills to use with future bridal clients of I Do LLC.

CWEP Project 2

Posted By Joya Wotila, Wednesday, April 10, 2019
Hi there, my name is Joya Wotila and I live in the great state of Texas but originally from the beautiful coastline of Northern California! I have always been involved with events and hosting since I was a child shadowing my mother. This course has opened up different aspects of the industry that I was not fluent in before so I am very appreciative. I especially feel very grateful for my instructor Cheryl Allgood who has demonstrated poise, grace and helpful knowledge all the way through. In Project 2 I get to explain how the way I grew up in a small village church with the events my mother help create gave me such a love for beauty, well displayed food, music and the hearts that enjoyed it all together.

18.6 Assignment

Posted By Constance Gamboa, Wednesday, April 3, 2019

Hello everyone!

I am attending the course at Colin College Plano TX.  I am a Chicago born and raised native relocated to Texas for the desire of more adventures in autumn 2014 and to no longer deal with those wicked winters! LOL

I have to say this was a lot more work than I thought it would be!   I have been a certified travel agent and working in the travel industry for the past 28 years.  I have always had the desire and knack for booking meetings & groups and wanted to add the additional certification to my resume.  I am not disappointed in the curriculum one bit!  If you can book a wedding you can most assuredly book any type of event.  The details that go into every bit was an eye opener and I could not be more pleased with the outcome of taking this course.

I am very excited to get myself going and branching out into the greater hospitality field of event planning.  My quote is and always be "life's a dream, make it eventful"

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Kairavi Hariawala, Thursday, March 14, 2019

My name is Kairavi Hariawala, from Longview, Texas. I am currently a student with CWEP online course. I am truly enjoying and learning so much already! Ms. Cho Phillips and Lovegevity Team are so co-operative and supportive. I have been into planning and organizing small celebration events for family and friends since I could even remember. I can’t wait to complete this course and grow in this wedding and event industry. For CWEP project 1, I have made a mood board using the A8 formula for my adorable couple.

My couple Jamol & Tevon are from Louisiana. They met through a mutual friend 4 years ago. Both recently moved to Houston, Texas. Both share same love for music, food and movies. One loves to bake and the other loves to sing, just a perfect combination I would say! They want to get married in Houston, Texas on August 15th.

Jamol and Tevon both want a very formal & contemporary wedding. They are having a summer wedding ceremony in garden and reception indoors. They’ve picked out yellow color to be the color of their celebration! The bride will be wearing a beautiful strapless mermaid gown with cathedral style veil to accessorize with tiara, earrings, bracelets and open back slings. The groom will be wearing a suit with yellow waist coat and yellow tie to keep up with the theme. The bridesmaids will be dressed in yellow dresses and groomsmen will be in suits with yellow ties on them. Flower girls will be in cute cream colored dresses with yellow floral tiara for the wedding. Invitations will be printed on jacquard paper using thermography adding a platinum/silver bow on top. They’ve chosen soloist/live music along with ‘here comes the bride’ to be played in the background. Ceremony arch will be decorated with white and yellow carnations & roses/cattleya orchids. Catering will be buffet, so there will different sections and varieties of food, keeping in mind special dietary needs such as vegan/gluten-free/allergies. The tables will be covered with white sheets, yellow napkins, yellow/grey bow on the chairs with yellow and white floral center pieces. The wedding cake will be placed on a decorated table with their initials displayed. The ceremony will be completed by releasing beautiful doves. All the guests will be given set of favors such as bottle opener, heart-shaped magnets with bride and groom’s initials/date of marriage, couple of gift wrapped macaroons and/or candies or any other, appreciating their presence for the celebration of love. Horse-carriage will be arranged for the couple to ride/travel. Couple will be send off with bubbles to wish them good luck by their families, relatives and friends as they embark on this beautiful journey together, forever.

CWEP: Project 1- Mood Board

Posted By Deirdre M. Payne, Saturday, March 2, 2019

My name is Deirdre Payne, Owner of I Do LLC., in Virginia. After several careers in the corporate field, some in Event Planning, I decided to break out on my own a few years ago. In the past, I planned everything from Chili Cookoffs, Golf Tournaments and Automotive Shows to Bridal Shows and Weddings.  Being a life-long hopeless romantic, it is now Wedding Planning that has the most appeal. Becoming certified in the field has been on my bucket list for over five years, which is how I finally got enrolled in this class. I am excited for all that I will learn to help expand my business.

This Mood Board tells the love story of a couple from different worlds. She is a little older and business driven, but loves the idea of relaxing on the beach. He is an outdoorsman and loves the mountains. He dreamt of a wedding on a hillside, smoking meat over a fire, but loved her enough to compromise. From their first kiss in the mountains to the one that would marry their lives together on the beach, it is a true love story. My goal was to have a romantic/tropical feel and include his wish for brisket on the menu and a horse on the beach. Of course, their friends were thrilled to be a part and later see her wish...fireworks in the shape of two intertwined hearts, like theirs will be forever.

CWEP Project #1

Posted By Stephanie Villatoro, Monday, January 21, 2019

Hey! My name is Stephanie, I am from the Northern Virginia area. I have had a passion for event planning starting in 2014 when I took a wedding planning course at GMU as an elective. But by then it was too late for me to change my major so I continued with my business degree knowing that it will help me in the future. I have interened and worked with various planners in the area in hopes to one day have my own event planning business, alongside my sister. That is why I have decided to take these steps and pursue my certification.

The project one assignment really made you dive into all the elements and details of planning a wedding right away. It made me look into local vendors and see what they offer and compare them to similar vendors. All knowledge that will be very useful in the end when recommending vendors to clients.

My inspiration for project 1 came from a couple that I helped with 2 years ago. It was the first really big wedding that I was able to help plan from start to finish and to this day it is one of my favorites so far.

My mood board shows you a quick glance at what they wanted for their wedding day.

Assignment 1.3 question

Posted By Naomi Ohayon, Thursday, January 17, 2019

Hi Everyone,

My name is Naomi, I just started this course, I am taking it because I want to change my career and become a Wedding Planner. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was looking over Assignment 1.3 and it mentions about creating a Pinterest Board for your business.  My goal is to join someone else's business or work at a Company. My plan isn't to start my own business.  Is anyone else in the same boat? Should I come up with a business plan just for this Assignment?

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Shreshtha Ghoshal, Thursday, January 17, 2019

Hi everyone! My name is Shreshtha and I'm a Dallas-based event coordinator. I've been in the events industry for over 5 years, and was finally ready to take my career to the next level by gaining the training and education I needed from LWPI.
I've had a blast in this course so far. I've learned so many things I didn't even know I needed to know, and feel a lot more confident about planning a full scale wedding from start to finish thanks to this project.

My project is actually based on my own wedding, which will happen in 2022. My fiance and I recently got engaged, and nothing is more daunting thank planning your own wedding! We decided to have a sunset ceremony at the beautiful Rancho Mirando in Texas Hill Country, and are very excited for everything to come together! This project is an overview of just that, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did putting it together!

CWP Project 1

Posted By Mechelle Newman, Thursday, January 10, 2019

Hello Fellow Planners,

My name is Mechellé Newman and I'm from Los Angeles, CA and have decided to get serious with pursing my career  in the wedding planning industry by taking the this course to prefect my skill and talents for wedding planning and coordinating. I have my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and initially planned to go to Law School but later discovered that the wedding and event industry is really where my passion was.

I really enjoyed this assignment because it gave my the opportunity and challenge to focus on the details of a potential clients wedding and the important aspects that go into it as well as familiarizing myself with using Canva. My client's wedding theme is an elegant ray of royal blue and gold. It represents class and freshness with a sleek look of royalty and shimmer.

Hello everyone, my name is Jennifer Nunez. So here I completed project 2, which was kind of challenging and fun because there's lots of things you need to think about when opening a new business. CWEP Project 1

Posted By Sierra Ostergaard, Sunday, December 9, 2018

Hey there! My name is Sierra Ostergaard and I'm currently residing in Fort Polk, Louisiana where my husband is stationed in the Army. As an army wife, I've had many careers such as a Elementary School teacher and a CNA(Certified Nurse Assistant) but this allows me to follow another one of my dream jobs because why pick just one? haha! I hope to be able to give others a chance at a wedding of their dreams without the stress of putting one all together!

This project has certainly opened my eyes to how much actually goes into planning a wedding. Every little detail matters and it has been so much fun trying to plan and coordinate schedules and planning for this wedding.

My clients met while in college and want their big day to be in their favorite season: Winter! With a unique blend of colors arranging from red, gold, silver, and a supply of greenery, there will be a winter themed wedding. Every aspect of the wedding will be winter themed all the way from winter invitations with fresh spruce figs to scented Firestarter pine cones as appreciative favors. By the end of the wedding, you will see why the couple loves winter and it may just become your new favorite season as well!
