My name is Teresa Medina and my ambition is to bring a new breath of air in the wedding and event planning market, by combining old fashioned values, expertise and going the extra mile. My dream is to “Make Memorable Memories” while making a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of my clients for many years to come.

As a consultant, my goal is to create events that dazzle, delight, and "wow" in every possible way.

CWEP Project 2

Posted By Karmen Johnson, Monday, July 16, 2018

Hello All!! Its that time again. As someone already in the industry, you would think Project 2 wouldn't be as helpful or pertinent to me. However, it is the exact opposite. Working on this project has made me realize what areas I could improve/refine in regards to my business.

I've found the desire to revamp my website for something a bit more polished and the need to update my contract for future clients. I've also found the benefit in providing a prospective client with a questionnaire to learn a little bit about them. This shows the client you care, but also fosters in your preparation to help them through the planning process.

I'm so looking forward to how these edits will make a difference in my business!

Project 2

Posted By Debbie Lowe, Monday, July 16, 2018

Hello,

My name is Debbie Lowe.  I thoroughly enjoyed putting Project 2 together.  I look forward to implementing the forms into my own events soon.  I currently work at a wedding venue and have been asked to oversee the weddings that will allow me to promote myself and my new company as I work as venue coordinator.  I also look forward attending wedding shows and local functions.  My desire is to master The Month and Day Of packages.  After I finish this certificate, my next step will be to get a certification in wine and food pairing as an addition to my event business.  Working in catering and at a winery, I see how valuable that added knowledge will benefit me.

Enjoy viewing my project.  I know I have enjoyed looking at a few of yours.

Project 2 Blog Post

Posted By Jennifer McFarling, Monday, July 16, 2018

Hello Again! My name is (still) Jenny J. Event planning is a hobby of mine and maybe someday a side hustle that will turn into a profitable business. I live in Plano with my roommates and little dog, Fitz, and plan my wedding in my spare time. My experience in this course has deepened a bit more into the business knowledge of running an event business. I really enjoyed the planning aspects the most, but like adding my own style to the assignments and other projects. Finally, I am presenting my “mood board”/ style guide for Project 2. Though I may not be able to match colors or fonts exactly, this board will give me a good solid base to go off of.

Hello! Jamie Wilkinson reporting in for Project 2.

This project offered a deeper dive into the business structure and pricing models that will be used to execute the job. It was a good learning experience and hopefully all of the thought that was put into it shows. This exercise has prepared me for understanding what I need in order to successfully market my services to prospective and existing clients. I am excited by the momentum I feel for getting started with my business.

CWEP Project 1

Having had an interest in wedding and event planning for years, I was really excited to dive right into this course and had a lot of fun with project one! I learned a lot about the components that go into making a wedding (or any event) a huge success for everybody involved, and had an amusing, albeit difficult, time envisioning an event! My boyfriend and I have just recently started talking marriage details, and although we aren't yet engaged, we're planning out how we want our special day to be. Cool, rustic colors and vibes... Lots of natural plants and materials... Home-made games for our guests to have fun... We want our ceremony to be classic and our reception to be a party-like celebration while also drawing inspiration from our everyday lives, like my succulent garden or our ability to make a game out of anything! We're both drawn to more rustic styles and nature inspired decor elements, so I feel this board give you a brief glimpse of what our big day might eventually look like!

I just completed 4 years of service in the United States Navy and now I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my life :). I took this course to help learn the logistics and marketing skills behind the business.

This course has been a little difficult for me. Trying to figure out how to navigate the online course was not easy. The project I am submitting is Project #1. I've created a website using wix to showcase the wedding.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Chanelle S. Miller, Friday, July 6, 2018

Hello, my name is Chanelle and I am from Plano, TX. I am currently an Office Manager and previously I was a Property Manager.  I have always had an interest in planning events and all of my professional positions have require for me to do some type of event planning.  My goal is to be an Event Planner who focuses on Themes.  I have always enjoyed planning events centered around a unique idea or special theme and it brings me joy to see it come to life.

I am learning a lot in this course so far and there are so many intricate details that go into planning a wedding. The A8 model is a great way to ensure the planner captivates every aspect of the event.  The one thing I really enjoy is having guests speaker come in to discuss various things related to the class and planning process.  it's amazing how much insight and knowledge the various vendors have that is extremely helpful for all event planners.

For my CWEP Project 1, I decided on a themed wedding. The theme for my event is "Love Reigns" to represent that the couples relationship has survived some challenges and will continue to "Reign". She is his queen and he is her king, and the bride and groom wanted their wedding colors to be dark purple, navy blue and gold. The main focus was on the reception because the wedding was a very simple ceremony.  The reception decor consists of very modern decor with minimal florals and unique lighting. A unique feature for the reception is the live painting artist who will capture this special experience for the couple and ensure it is a memorable day. The goal was to make this an event that everyone would remember and I believe I was able to accomplish this goal.

Project 3

Posted By Kayla Scheuer, Thursday, July 5, 2018

Hello! My name is Kayla Scheuer. I am from PA but I am currently living in Okinawa, Japan because of the military. Through this course I learned how to run your business ethnically. Also how to add charity into your business. My biggest take away from this course is how much goes in to wedding planning. It really opened my eyes to how much work it really is.

Two Doves weddings will be having a grand opening May 15th, 2019. The theme is champagne and sweets. Proceeds from the event go to the humane society. It is an animal shelter and the money will go towards food and shelter for the animals.

Hello. My name is Megan. I hope this posts correctly! It was so much fun designing and playing with this project. The theme of this wedding is simple, elegant and rustic. The color scheme of this wedding is white and green. The wedding is supposed to take place in a Botanical Garden in the city in the summer! I am just starting out in my journey of wedding/event planning. My motto is simple is best and that is what I chose for this project! I wanted this wedding to be classic. I feel the color scheme and simplicity made it something to remember!

CWEP1 Project1

Posted By Maria a. Machado (Alejandra), Wednesday, July 4, 2018
Updated: Wednesday, July 4, 2018

My name is Maria Machado. I am Married. I have two children, one boy, and one girl. My husband and I are owners of the company Flower Adventures LLC. Actually, I'm studying to be a Wedding Planner. The flowers are my passion, and almost all weddings need to have flowers. I hope you like my first wedding project. I have chosen these photos. Because they represent the beginning of a great decision,Be Married. The love, the gestures, the illusion of a couple being together forever and ever. It has the meaning of living the moment of a great wedding and being spouses. After having all the logistics of the arrival, the couple, the parents and the guests. It is important to receive each one. It is the act of elegance and importance for such an event. A delegated person must be at the door of the church and the reception receiving the people who will participate in the wedding. The atmosphere of a wedding must be exceptional.

All the decoration, however simple must be, have to be well combined. Everything depends on the colors chosen by the couple. It is important that the guests have space, and very detailed that each table has the name of the family. I chose different types of food, and I also included snacks.I think it is important that if the guests arrive first that the couple, they can have an option to eat an appetizer before starting the whole celebration. They can choose a specific food type especially if they have a religious habit. From the music of the church to the DJ of the celebration, entertainment is very important. We must have in mind, the culture of the couple. If the couple is adventurous, or if they are very active if they would like to share experiences as entertainments. Another option is if they wanted to have live music or DJ.

Project 1

Posted By Erin Binger, Wednesday, July 4, 2018
Updated: Wednesday, July 4, 2018

Hey there! My name is Erin. I'm from Paso Robles, CA. This is my 1st attempt at a posting a project review.

A little about me: I recently got married in June and had a very small window of time to plan my wedding due to my parents being in the state for 1 week and his dad being very ill. I had 4 weeks and about $2500 to create the perfect day for my husband-to-be and our 50+ guests. Our wedding went down without a single problem and everything was absolutely gorgeous and perfect. I was told by everyone that I have a special talent....and honestly, I REALLY had fun and did great planning under pressure. I think with several years of customer service and security management, that may have helped me keep my cool. So, here I am! Ready to fine tune this talent and become a CWEP!

My Project 1 mood is set in the "roaring 20's". The 20's were a very glamorous and vogue era for the middle/upper class. Women wore silks and satin, deep reds and blushes, pearls and feathers. Men were dapper in 3 piece suits, shaven clean and with Brilliantine hair. It was very sexy, yet still very proper and modest. Women pushed their limits with short dresses and low necklines. My theme is along the line of The Great Gatsby. Warmer colors mixed with softer textures throughout to give a slightly modern touch. I chose this style to begin with as I like to bring out the extraordinary glamour that steps outside the traditional wedding box. I have a broad and vivid imagination and I try to picture the dream wedding in full HD color when planning!

Please let me know what you think!

Article Review - Communication

Article Review: Relationship Education

Great Communication by Linda and Charlie Bloom

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/stronger-the-broken-places/201803/great-communication

This article is about communicating in the face of conflict. In the first paragraph the authors define speaking from experience (expressing feelings and needs) and speaking from opinion (thoughts that are often critical).  The authors of the article go on to talk a lot about what causes us to defend ourselves when someone offers an unwanted opinion (such as judgment or criticism) and how that will usually only fuel a fight. To remedy counterattacking (responding back to a negative opinion in a hype defensive way) the authors explained we should redirect our awareness to our own experience. Pretty much, this means to check in with yourself and notice your surroundings and feelings. By checking ourselves first we create a mindset of strong of awareness and are able to speak with emotions or “from experience”.
