CWEP Project 1

Posted By Shayla Lassiter, Monday, July 1, 2019

Hi Everyone,

My name is Shayla Lassiter. I am 29 years old and currently reside in North Carolina with my husband, our 2 year old son and expecting a little girl in October. I am a licensed school counselor and work with elementary school students grades K-5.

I have chosen to take this course, as I enjoy  being a part of special moments for individuals when it comes to events and weddings. I have been searching for what my passion is and what I truly want to do for the rest of my life and one day it just hit me that I love planning events for special occasions. Being able to be apart of something so special for someone and incorporate my own creativity is something that I am passionate about. My ultimate goal is to have my own event planning business within the next couple of years after gaining further experience and developing the knowledge needed to be successful.

I am so happy that I chose to take this course. I am learning so much already and its only been a couple of days. I am so eager to finish the course and begin putting my skills and knowledge in this field.

(Project Scenario)

Lisa and John have been together for 7 years, engaged for 9 months. They are both in their early 30's and met during a friends birthday party. Lisa is Caucasian and John is African American. They have chosen to get married this upcoming spring, as they enjoy this season and the weather. They also became very serious about one another during the spring time. Lisa prefers a more subtle wedding with flowers and light colors such as light pink, while John enjoys more bold statements and pieces. The two have asked the wedding planner to help them create a wedding that brings their two different interest together while creating a beautiful and memorable event. The bride and groom are both huge food people and want their guest to enjoy delicious food via buffet. The color scheme that was chosen, is white, pink, black and hints of gold.

The mood board (see attachment) displays a blush colored tux with black trim, pink and white decor with hints of black and gold throughout (wedding cake, table runners). Flowers are also a important piece to the wedding to represent spring. Buffet style food was chosen, giving guest a variety of options to choose from.
