CWEP Project 1 Blog

Posted By Maya Yassine, Friday, March 8, 2019

My name is Maya Yassine and I am from San Francisco, CA. Before pursuing this dream, I got my degree in psychology and have been doing management while figuring out the next steps I would be taking in my career path. I have always been passionate about event planning for as long as I can remember, so I thought it would be a natural progression to become licensed and see how far this could take me. I would love to be amazing in this field and start my own business being a part of people’s fondest memories.

My experience in this course has been a cross between a lot of excitement, nervousness about meeting deadlines, and self reflection. It is very intense, but has allowed me to reconfirm how much I love everything about the job, and meet other’s who are on this path with me.

The project I am presenting is an elegant de Young museum wedding located in the center of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The theme is called “Midnight Garden,” which captures a stark contrast between the beautiful feminine feeling of an outdoor garden ceremony with the glamorous, upscale and angular feeling of the de Young. Black will be a backdrop for midnight blue’s, soft shades of teal, rose gold and copper accents, with traditional hints of off white. The reception will be held in a tower with windows for walls, leaving a view of the beautiful garden portion of the park the venue is located in. The ceremony begins during sunset on an October evening, surrounded by autumn leaves and goes well into the night.
