CWEP Project 1

Posted By Kia True-Yasaki, Tuesday, March 5, 2019

Hey Everyone! My name is Kia (like the car) I'm from San Jose, California and I currently work full time as well as taking this class. At my job, we have to have these monthly events and I was always the one getting it set up and making all the arrangements and whatnot that it got to the point where I decided to just make a career change. I always wanted to see everything that goes into planning amazing weddings and events and now I finally get to follow my dreams!

This course is incredible. I'm loving it and I'm learning so much. I had no idea that so much went into just one little part of a wedding. This project had me stressing since it first got assigned to us because I wanted everything to be perfect! It's a lot harder than I thought it would be and it definitely requires a lot of patience. I personally think my child-like voice keeps some of the vendors from wanting to reach out to me because they think it'll just be a waste of their time. The amount of vendors I tried to contact compared to how many I actually got to speak to and work with is astounding, so that was a little stressful too as the deadline got closer. Other than that though, I had a lot of fun with this project and just getting to familiarize myself with this industry.

In my scenario, I'm planning a wedding for this super awesome total outdoors couple, Samantha and Jacob. They're the sweetest couple, and I absolutely love the theme: under the stars. it's different than what it originally was (Deep Sea) but it fits them so well. The ceremony is outside to make their "I do" moment special as well as being in a place they truly love: the outdoors! Including themselves, there's 100 guests total. It's going to be at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links at the end of June this year!
