Project #1 Submission

Posted By Ashley Winkler, Monday, May 7, 2018

Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Winkler and I am originally from a small town outside Toronto, Canada. Currently I am living in the United Kingdom, as we are stationed here with the USAF.  I attended University to obtain my TESOL and in the past few years have taught at a variety of schools. I first became interested in the Wedding Planning Industry when I planned our Adirondacks wedding whilst in Japan. While planning a wedding half a world away was incredibly stressful, I also found it exhilarating. Realistically, I would love to work with an established event planning company shortly after completing this program to gain some hands on experience. Long term, I envision owning my own event planning business, that can travel along with my family and I.

As of yet, this course has been fantastic and enriching. While I entered into this program assuming it was mostly knowledge based, I soon realised just how many hours the assignments and projects would take. However, I have very much enjoyed completing said assignments and project #1 because they have helped broaden my horizon in terms of planning details and wedding jargon.

For my Project#1, I decided to create an Italian vineyard inspired wedding. The couple consists of a British bride and an Italian-American groom, so it was interesting creating a signature event to match their personalities and cultures. Overall, this event is meant to bring together both a young couple in love and their adjoining culturally diverse families.
