CWEP Project 1

Posted By Marianne Mijares, Friday, June 23, 2017
Updated: Friday, June 23, 2017

My name is Marianne and I am currently the Director of Events for the University of Miami Frost School of Music.  I strongly believe in professional development and thought that obtaining my Certification in Wedding and Event Planning would add to my current experience.  The inspiration for the board I created is based on my co-worker who recently got engaged.  She met her boyfriend when she fractured her foot and he was her physical therapist.  They are in their mid-thirties and this would be the first marriage for both of them.  He is from the mid-west and a true gentleman, hence the rustic chic theme.  They want a classy but simple wedding that incorporates both their taste and background.  I have a sincere appreciation for Wedding Planners, especially since I know how much research and time goes into creating each event.  Looking forward to completing Project #1 and learning the tricks of the trade.

CWEP Project 1

Updated: Thursday, June 22, 2017

Hello!  My name is Nashara Mayhew, and I never know how to answer the question "Where are you from?" because I'm from all over!  I was born in Louisiana and moved to Missouri as a toddler and was there until about 10 years old.  After that, I moved to Texas for about six years and then moved to Atlanta for a year.  I attended undergrad in North Carolina until 2015, and I moved back to Texas where I currently reside - so I'll leave it to you to answer that question!  I currently work for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Irving where I partner with high school students as they connect with their mentors throughout their high school journey.

I've definitely enjoyed this course so far!  I love hearing about different weddings and the instructor's experiences with her wedding planning business.  This project was pretty intense for me - I never realized how many small details go into planning a wedding.  Every time I thought I was finished, I realized I left another detail out!  It's definitely fun coming up with an idea and what you want an event to look like, but it's difficult and time-consuming to work out all of the logistics.  This will definitely be something to work on in the future.

I have some childhood friends who are currently in a serious relationship.  There hasn't been a proposal yet, but they definitely know and have talked about spending the rest of their lives together.  This couple is who I based my project on, so essentially when he is ready to pop the question, the planning process would have already been started through my project.  My couple is definitely far from traditional, and they wanted two completely different vibes between the ceremony and reception, so that was a challenge trying to bring it all together.  I had fun, and I look forward to showing them some of my ideas.  My mood board is below and link to wixsite is https://nasharamayhew.wixsite.com/mysite.

This is my first college course but what a wonderful experience.  I am retired from a 30 year career from a government job and so enjoy being able to use my creativity and learn new programs as well.  I would love to be a wedding planner because it would bring me joy to help create a once in a lifetime wedding to each and every couple I would have the pleasure of doing business with.

My Lovegevity Experience

Posted By LaQuoia Gibson, Thursday, June 22, 2017

What a journey this has been. I have learned so much taking this course. When I first decided I wanted to be an event planner, it was while assisting my aunt with her event company. I had the chance to work behind the scenes with planning, calling vendors, setting the stage, and all moving parts involved.

While speaking with a flower vendor one day, she mentioned this course and how she wanted to take the flower design class. She recommended that I also take a look at it. After looking at the website, i knew this was the class for me! From start to finish, the wealth of knowledge and insight that I have gained over the past few months has helped me so much. Learning everything from plotting a timeline, to how to charge for my services to branding and PR.

Lovegevity provides you with all the tools you need to be successful and to run your own business. I would recommend everyone take this course!

Project 1

Posted By Tori Wardell, Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Hello! My name is Tori Wardell! I have just recently graduated college with my bachelor's in General studies. While in college I was in a sorority and loved planning all of the events for the chapter. After realizing my love for planning I realized I wanted to help plan people's special days and make them everything they've dreamed of!

My inspiration for this first project were my friend's September wedding. We live in Texas so September is really the tail end of summer. The night was cool which made for a comfortable ceremony. I wanted to plan a classic elegant wedding. Something that I feel never goes out of style! The black and white really coordinate well together making for a timeless event!

CWEP Project 1: Plan a Social Event or Wedding

Posted By Rachel Umile, Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Hello, my name is Rachel and I am from Langhorne Pennsylvania. During my junior year of college I had decided that what I wanted to do with my life was help create and plan the one day that is unforgettable to many people, their wedding day. Last month I graduated from college and I decided that I wanted to become a certified wedding planner before I started looking for a job because I felt that if my résumé said that I was a certified wedding planner, I would be more likely to find a job that I would enjoy. This course has taught me so much already and I am enjoying every minute of it.

The inspiration for my Project 1 were my best friend and her fiancé. They have been together for years now and just got engaged. They plan to have a long engagement since Keegan is currently still in school but they asked me to plan their wedding with their specific budget to see if it was actually possible. They gave me a $20,000 budget, a request for a traditional and romantic wedding, and colors they plan to use for their wedding. I had a lot of fun creating this project because I feel as if I am really helping them plan their wedding. They have already told me that when the time comes that not only will I be in the wedding but I will be planning it too. This project definitely helped me with understand wedding planning and I believe I will benefit a lot from this project.

Project 1: Plan a Social Event

Posted By Colleen M. ViaFriend (McCasey), Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Updated: Thursday, June 22, 2017

My name is Colleen and I currently reside in McKinney, TX.  My husband and I are transplants from Colorado to Texas 11 years ago for our jobs.  We both originate from the East Coast, where we met 30 years ago in Providence, Rhode Island.  We are empty nesters, but have less spare time it seems then when our two children were at home.  I have worked in the corporate world for the past 27+ years in the Operations, Training/HR, and Development departments for one of world’s largest QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) Companies.  In my spare time I volunteer for a local North Texas animal rescue, and have 3 rescued furry children that we call “the boys”.

My inspiration for Project 1: “Planning a Social Event” was my Son and his Fiancé late summer wedding.  Their wedding is planned for later this summer over the weekend of August 12th, outside of Durango, CO.  Planning began last year prior to the fall holidays, but many of the details are just coming to life.  Over the Mother’s Day weekend, our families joined together in Breckenridge CO with the bride and groom.  We finalized details and created a timeline for tasks that needed to still be completed.

My presentation is a combination of the details provided for the actual upcoming wedding and additional ideas that will enhance the guest experience during the event.  This has been a great experience and I look forward to sharing my creation and continuing to learn more from my peers and networks during this course.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Ashley D Sneed, Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Updated: Tuesday, June 20, 2017

My name is Ashley Sneed, I'm originally from Dallas, TX. I have two beautiful daughters who are my motivation in life. We just moved from New York about 3 months ago and while in Texas I've decided to further my education. I have spent the last 6 years in the corporate world as an EA and though I have enjoyed it, I just feel it is time to start my own business.

I have always been the "go to" person with friends and family that need an event planned. I enjoy all the in's and out's when it comes to event planning. I'm finding this course to be a little challenging but I know how valuable this training will be when I've completed the program.

The couple I chose is my best friend Michelle and her soon to be husband Snider. They want a formal and elegant traditional wedding. Christian ceremony that will be romantic and emotional but the reception to be more like a party. Primary colors will be mint green and gold. White cala lilies will be the primary flower and touches of gold will support them in the floral arrangements. The couples ceremony will start at five o'clock pm at Noah's Event Venue in Las Colinas.

Rustic-vintage, meets Glittering KC City Chic

Posted By Caroline I. Drumm, Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Updated: Tuesday, June 20, 2017

I’m Caroline Drumm and I’m from a little bit of everywhere. I grew up in the Dallas area, but I have spent the past seven years in Nebraska getting my marketing degree from the University of Nebraska and then working on the “party solution team” at Oriental Trading Company as an assistant brand merchant. I moved back to Dallas at the end of last July where I’m currently working as an Acquisition Marketing Coordinator downtown. I would like to work for either a company doing event planning or even a small event planning company. Moving into this type of field will be a great way to tie up many of my other professional and extra circular skills and talents.

I’m really enjoying this course and it’s really exciting get to be creative again. I will have to admit that this project has taken me a lot of time. When I was working on this I would just disappear into my own event planning world for hours at a time.

I’ve created this project as a way to help my good friend who is just starting her wedding planning. I’m going to be a bridesmaid in this wedding and the bride told me she wanted some ideas and how to go through this process. The bride and groom live and Kansas City and have lots of guest coming in from out of town and this couple obsessed with the venue they’ve picked. The best ways I can think of to describe their wedding is rustic-vintage, meets glittering KC city chic

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Sherry L. Potter, Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Hello, My name is Sherry Potter and I live in Carrollton, Texas. My husband, Wilson, and I have been married 22 years and have 3 teenage boys. We are planning for the empty nest phase in life. Wilson and I plan on going into business together because our skill sets balance each other perfectly.I am currently a financial manager and do event planning for our church. Wilson is a facilities manager and great with people. Our goal is to make Wedding Planning a full time job within 5 years so we can both quit our other jobs.

This class has been helping me understand the details behind the logistics involved in planning a wedding. Knowing the traditions and proper etiquette is very helpful as well. I look forward to continuing to build my information data base.

My project is for Matt & Stacy's May 2018 wedding. This sweet couple met at a lemonade stand and so incorporating lemons and yellow throughout the wedding is important to them. They want a semi-formal, classy wedding with a fun, relaxed reception. They venue location has a vintage church for the wedding and a rustic barn for the reception. They will have bottles of lemonade for everyone to make their toast at the reception. Stacy loves succulents so you will see those scattered throughout the decor. Matt & Stacy will leave in style in a yellow Ford Tudor.

Posted By Michele R Vance, Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Hi, my name is Michele Vance. I am from the Philippines but have lived in Texas since 1993. Currently, I am working as a supervisor in the Unemployment Department. My goals and plans are to become an event planner with a focus on weddings.

The wedding I am presenting is a rustic chic theme about a couple who are in their mid 20’s with stable careers in journalism and photography.  They love the outdoors and the environment it provides.  The couple incorporated their cowboy/cowgirl boots along with the natural wood ambiance.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Rosalyn Greer, Monday, June 19, 2017
Updated: Monday, June 19, 2017

My name is Rosalyn, I'm from the San Francisco bay area.  I moved to Texas about 20 years ago and while in Texas I've completed my education.  I have a Bachelors degree in Business Administration Management.  I enjoy putting together celebratory events for family and friends.  I'm finding this course a little challenging but know how value this training will be when I've completed the program.

My mood board is of a mature couple.  Their ages are 50 something, both have professional careers.  Both have been married in the past.  He has no living parents, one adult son and grandchildren.  She has her mother, two adult children and two grandchildren.

This couple wants a semi formal, elegant and conservative wedding.  This outside ceremony will have the bride, groom, maid of honor, best man and officiant in front of a man-made pool of water situated so perfectly between two pillars they will exchange their vows at the Dallas Arboretum on an beautiful June morning.

Project 1 Blog Post

Posted By Shoreh Moridi, Sunday, June 18, 2017
Updated: Sunday, June 18, 2017

Hello everyone!

My name is Shoreh and I am originally from Iran and have lived in the U.S since 1979 and made Plano Texas home in 1991. I am a medical technologist and my speciality is in Microbiology, I am currently working full time as a Supervisor of Microbiology Lab in Dallas. In this role, I have learned to manage a team, work with others and delegate tasks. I would like to take these skills to the next level as a professional planner and design and manage a client's wedding or event.

Weddings are significant events in people's lives and couples expect a well-organized and memorable wedding. I have experience in helping Iranian brides with their "sofreh aghd" which is a traditional Iranian wedding spread. I have also been involved in arranging large parties and events such as Iranian New Years programming. I also have my Floral Design certification and love making floral arrangements for friends, family and events.

My project today shows a modern Iranian-American wedding that includes unique elements of Iranian traditions with a elegant touch of modern chic.

This project has helped me a lot in realizing how much hard work and effort is required in order to have an organized and enjoyable event.
