CWEP Project 1

Posted By Michael B. Selman, 3 hours ago
Hi! Our bride is using sage green, grey and touches of gold for her June wedding. Her theme is very whimsical and rustic. Her choice of flowers are succulents, garden roses and eucalyptus for fillers. The groomsmen will be wearing succulent boutonnieres. The wedding will take place in the afternoon as the sun is setting in the West. The venue offers lake views with outdoor ceremony option (with indoor option as well), with the reception following directly after in the venue.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Aimee Harrold, Friday, January 19, 2018
Hello my name is Aimee Harrold, and I live in Northern Idaho. My couples wedding theme, is life in the North West. The wedding takes place on the beautiful St. Joe River on the grooms family river property. The colors for the wedding are mint, gold, and black. Conlon and Emily's wedding had no more than 60 guests, and took place in the middle of the year so the weather was perfect for swimming and gathering around the campfire.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Jenna Workman, Friday, January 19, 2018
Updated: Friday, January 19, 2018

Hello! My name is Jenna Workman. I just graduated in December with my Associate's Degree in Communication. I am thrilled to begin my journey working towards becoming a wedding and event planner! This has been my dream for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, my grandmother used to plan the most beautiful weddings. She was always teaching me small things here and there. After she passed away, I decided that I just had to continue the work she started...so here I am!

For my mood board, I worked with a happy couple in their mid-twenties. The soon to be couple insisted on having their wedding outdoors at a barn-style venue. They have decided to go with a rustic/southern feel. Overall, they love the idea of lots of greenery and white flowers, as well as subtle hints of dusty and navy blues. They would like the environment to be as unique and comfortable as possible!

Overall, this assignment was incredibly fun to work on. Pinterest has always been my go-to, so it wasn't hard to figure out what needed to be done!

CWEP Project 1

I love vintage weddings. My vision was a lot of flowers of different colors. I also love ways of incorporating different things from around the house into the decorating process like the dresser for drinks. Lace and flowers are definitely my thing!

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Claire Martinez, Wednesday, January 17, 2018

Hi Everyone! My name is Claire Martinez and I am incredibly excited to be a part of this course. I have been an event planner for about 8 years, mostly for charity galas, award shows and large scale concerts. Once I planned my own wedding and then helped my sister with hers, I instantly became hooked. I now cannot wait to help others plan their weddings.

With my mood board, I have a couple who wanted their wedding to be "elegant but approachable." The bride also had a soft spot for Beauty and the Beast and was inspired by the color scheme of navy, maroon and gold. The bride didn't want anything that blatantly pointed to the movie, so I wanted to find images that had more of subtle hints such as the rose on the place setting and bringing in candelabras for some of the higher centerpieces.

I'm really looking forward to continuing to work on additional projects and going through this process.

CWEP Project 1

Hello,

The wedding I've created a mood board for is a "Pastel Paris" theme. The happy couple wanted a paris theme with obvious influences of pastel pink. This project was very fun to work on and introduced me to the joy of pintrest and canva.

CWEP Project 1

Updated: Monday, January 15, 2018
Hi! My name is Rebekah Poche. I feel as though it is important to mention that I am from South Louisiana, as my home state and our unique culture provided a lot of inspiration for my project.  My family owns and operates an event venue and I have worked here since childhood.  I have seen hundreds of weddings and I have always wanted to be a wedding planner.  This course came at a perfect time in my life because I recently got engaged.  As I take this course, not only am i learning to become a planner for other people, but i am able to keep myself organized as a bride as well.  I used my own preferences and tastes for this project because, as mentioned, it really helped me get a head start on planning my own wedding.  The part that I feel was most beneficial was the vendor research, as i was able to explore multiple vendors in my area and pick the ones that best suited me.  My mood board is surrounded around an October Louisiana wedding.  The colors I chose are very bold, fall-like colors such as the green bridesmaid dresses.  The accents are gold and dark wood.  The wedding style can be best described as rustic-elegant.

Project 1 mood board

Posted By Tina Smith, Monday, January 15, 2018

This mood board was inspired for a maroon winter wedding.  The two brides prefer a vintage style with the colors of blush and creams complementing the maroon. The brides emphasis for the evening is tasty foods and delicious drinks.

We are a boutique planning, management and staffing company based out of Florida.  We want to expand our business to New York, and will travel to most destinations. We want to be the company that brings about change in delivering live and virtual experiences to our clients using event specific technology and apps. Bringing a 3-D virtual picture of event spaces and floor plans before the day of the event.  Using apps to create timelines and send reminders to vendors. Using project management technology to inform vendors of updates in real time.  Engaging in video conferencing and live chat.

We promise to deliver this mission by providing tools, information and engaging resources. Simply, and Effectively providing a unique experience that our clients will remember for years to come. Always a Signature Event Experience.

What I have enjoyed learning from taking this course and completing Project 2, is that it is of vital importance to know every detail starting with design, marketing tools and concepts, understand your competition, offer certain planning tools to bride to get her motivated, understand the details and roles for each person in the bridal party and remember to cover your business expenses and account for any liability issues that may arise.  Planning an event can be so much fun, but most people don’t realize all the details that go into planning a spectacular event that clients will remember for a lifetime.

Prospective Clients: Casey Noto & Patrick Donahue
Mother of the Bride: Joan Noto
Wedding Date: November 10, 2018
Religious ceremony: St. John Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida.
Venue for Reception: Waterstone Resort and Marina Boca Raton, Curio Collection by Hilton

Initial Consult: Zoom Video Conference meeting on January 12, 2018.  I will email a response which will include Canvas boards giving prospective client ideas of services, design aspects and venue that was originally talked about at the initial conversation at a bridal showcase where I met prospective client and her mother on January 7, 2018.

I have attached Canvas boards to show clients a few pictures of venue they are considering and to include information regarding my services.  I have also included a simple budget analysis for their review.  A list of one of the teams that work with me for weddings within a budget of $45,000. I have also attached a video that gives prospective clients an insight about my company, my team, services offered and about my experience as a planner.  My goal is help each client save time, save money and make the planning process as stress free as possible.

Cheers,

Abby Bruton

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Kayla Scheuer, Monday, January 8, 2018

Hi!

My name is Kayla. I'm from Pennsylvania, but I am currently living in Okinawa, Japan with my husband who is in the Marines. My goals for the future is to have an amazing business no matter where the military take us. Project one was informative and opened my eyes to how much really goes into planning a wedding. It was great experience and i can't wait to learn more about the industry!

I am planning a wedding for a couple in their early 20's and they want a rustic fall themed wedding. The color of the wedding will be wine red and light pink. It will be outside by a wheat field and the reception will be outside under the stars. Family is very important to the couple, so I tried to incorporate the family into to the wedding as much as possible. The bride insisted that there would be a Smore's bar.

Project 3: Planning Your Grand Opening

Posted By Lydia Simmons, Sunday, January 7, 2018
Lydia Simmons, a certified professional wedding planner, has launched a new event planning company called Lydia Simmons Events.

Lydia Simmons has been working as a venue manager and coordinator at a wedding venue in Dripping Springs and has built a network of trusted vendors as well as a foundation of knowledge, experience, and skills orchestrating events that she is excited to put to good use for her own company. Lydia Simmons Events offers a range of planning and coordination services sure to meet any bride’s expectations and budget.

The company's mission is to transform the traditional experience of planning a wedding, eliminating stress and maximizing enjoyment.

This project was a good way to get started with the basics needed for planning a grand opening. This course has been challenging, and I am excited to be reaching the conclusion!

My Project 3 is a project plan for my grand opening event. Before the event begins, there will be a cocktail hour for my guests and I to mingle while enjoying light refreshments. During the event, I will give a short presentation about myself and my new company. I will present my company mission statement: to transform the traditional experience of planning a wedding, eliminating stress and maximizing enjoyment. I will begin building my reputation as an organized, passionate, and talented event planner. The event will also feature a raffle to win a prize. All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will go toward a charity that provides wedding gowns to brides in need. After the event concludes, I will thank everyone for coming and encourage them to come talk to me before they leave if they want to discuss future business endeavors.

Project 3 Grand Opening

Updated: Friday, January 5, 2018

Project 3 - Grand Opening

A6/A8 Design Concept
We invited 50 brides to be that attended a bridal showcase at the Indian Springs Country Club in December 2017. We sent an evite invitation, which states website link for Grand Opening and our contact information. Theme will be blue as we are hosting event at: Delray Sands, 2809 SOUTH OCEAN BOULEVARD, HIGHLAND BEACH, FL 33487. The hues of the Atlantic Ocean together with our linens, center pieces and glassware will all set the tone as what I call: understated elegance.  What is more beautiful and inspiring than a beach wedding or event with direct ocean views?  Linens on high top tables will be dressed in dark navy lace linens, and we will use gold votive candle holders with white orchids.  The event will start at 6:30 p.m. Guests will valet their cars, and will be directed to Oceanview Terrace at Delray Sands.  We will use up lights at different points of terrace to give décor an elegant look, and will allow guests to capture the best ocean views.  There will be a Signature cocktail served and ready to offer as our brides-to-be enter event space.
Attire and Accessories send a statement that this event is a formal yet fun cocktail reception.  Wedding planners and vendors will be dressed in professional attire, closed toed shoes, subtle make up palettes and hair styles for women. Men will have clean cut and shaven faces and will be using ties. Bartenders will be dressed in black with a vest with Signature Events logo and tie. Servers will be using white gloves, white shirts with Signature Events logo and black slacks.
We will offer mini cocktails of Russian mules, strawberry flavored champagne, and lemon drop martinis.  Cristina’s catering will offer a delicious array of mini tacos, Kobe sliders and chick kabobs.  We will have a scrumptious dessert bar which will include branded French macaroons, cake pops with a tuxedo and wedding dress fondant, and a chocolate fountain bar with fruits. Mario Smith Jazz band will play popular cocktail and wedding reception favorites such as: Moon dance, All of Me, L.O.V.E., At Last, Cheek to Cheek, and Fly me to the Moon.  Signature Events wedding planners and entertainment manager will introduce themselves to each bride-to-be as the walk around the event space.  Information will be made available by taking brides information and entering into database on iPad to receive planning checklists, questionnaires and planning package information before the end of the event.  There will be TV plasma playing You Tube videos which showcase virtual reality 3-D tools that planners are using to create timelines, and floor plans for clients.  Goggles which hold cell phones will be available for brides to try out the new All Seated App and see a 3-D floor plan sample.  We will have a table display of All Seated VR goggle, together with our company brochures and business cards.  We will have flyers printed of both Palm Beach State College Foundation and Lynn University Foundation which will state that Signature Events is donating to both universities to contribute to student scholarships in the Business Administration and Hospitality & Event Management programs.  We will list that we also have an internship program in our company which give these same students real life work experience.  On the flyer it will have links listed to allow our guests an opportunity to donate.
The atmosphere will be fun, inviting, innovative and will allow brides to meet the Signature Events team of event professionals.  We will offer signature libations, delicious appetizers, sweet desserts, useful information and will help connect brides with specialist who can help get them started on the right path of planning for their most special day.  This will be a memorable experience.
A Signature Event Experience.

Assignment 18.6

Posted By Lea Baird, Wednesday, January 3, 2018

Hello There,

My name is Lea Baird and I live in Colorado Springs, CO. I am currently a full time interior designer and I love my job! Although I love my job, I also love planning events. I realized that I love planning events after planning my own wedding. I have helped my family and friends plan birthday parties, gender reveal parties, and baby showers. Planning my own wedding was the icing on the cake and helped push me to make my decision on becoming a certified wedding planning.

I did not know what to expect with this course. This course has been challenging and insight full. This course has it has pushed me and prepared me for taking on clients. Even though I have not finished this course as quickly as I wanted to due to life changes, but I am excited about what I have learned. I am hoping after this course and becoming certified I will be able to plan events on the side. My goals after getting my certification are helping people on any budget create their dream event. I want to be able to help clients who have a smaller budget and create an event of their dreams. I am very excited to use what I have learned throughout this course in the real world and launch a side business as an event and wedding planner!

18.6-LWPI Blog Contribution

Posted By Jennifer Haynie, Wednesday, January 3, 2018
I am excited to be doing this course. It's been surprisingly difficult at times and has definitely taken more time than I thought it would. This is what I want to do after I graduate college so learning all of this and doing 18 hours in college is hard, but I enjoy doing this course a lot. However, that being said, it has definitely been a good learning experience for when I am ready to build my business. It has helped me learn the elements I did not realize would be important and has given me great ideas for my wedding and for future weddings I get to plan.
Overall, this has been a really good experience. I'm excited to be done and receive my certification and I appreciate the way this program has challenged me so far.

18.6: LWPI Blog Contribution

Posted By Sarah Grelle, Wednesday, January 3, 2018
I am excited to be nearing completion of this course. It's been surprisingly difficult at times and has definitely taken more time to complete than I anticipated. I was a little surprised at how geared the course is to creating or promoting an actual business - as this is not currently my career goal, it has been a little harder than I expected. However, that being said, it has definitely been a good learning experience for when and if I am ready to build a business for real. It has touched on elements I didn't realize would be important and has stoked creativity for wedding planning I didn't know I had.
Overall, this has been a really good experience even when it wasn't what I expected. I'm excited to be nearly done and appreciate the way these assignments have made me think.

CWEP Project 1

Posted By Erin Richards, Monday, January 1, 2018
For project 1 I decided to focus on a garden themed wedding. I feel the natural tones and relaxed look of the wedding party fits well with atmosphere of the ceremony and reception. The food and drink are non traditional and classy. The lace design of the sleeves and bodice of the brides gown has a whimsical feel and ties well with the venue.
